The Hahnenhund (Chicago style) was fantastic! One of the best hot dogs I've ever had. It had the perfect snap in the outer skin on the first bite! Not many places that serve hot dogs get that right, and you won't find any hot dogs like these in food stores. It was amazing to find this in a small town in Texas! The Chicago-style hot dog at The Cockeye was fantastic! It was one of the best hot dogs I've ever had, with the perfect snap in the outer skin on the first bite. It's rare to find hot dogs done right like this, especially not in grocery stores. It's pretty amazing to discover this gem in a small Texas town. The portion size is a bit small, so I recommend getting two or more. The Bubba burger was also quite good, even better than the burger at LaSalle steakhouse. The restaurant itself is a small shack located just a short distance from the freeway, but it's easy to find and definitely worth a visit.
I finally had the chance to visit Tio Non's and tried their Italian beef, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I can't wait to return to Cotulla, TX to dine there again.
The food was excellent and the atmosphere was amazing. It was a pleasant surprise to discover a Vienna hot dog in South Texas.
