After two years, we returned to the restaurant again. It is always necessary to reserve a table. The staff is friendly and qualified. I would praise a young man who deals good with wine. Excellent knowledge. When ordering food please with check the menu and read the menu carefully, because sometimes there are too many carbohydrates in the first courses. Otherwise everything excellent. Let's come again
We stayed at La Subida about 4 years ago and had fond memories. Sometimes, when you go back to a place, you find that it's not as great as you remember it. Happily for us, La Subida was. The Sirk family has done a great job of creating a hotel and restaurant that fits the traditions and cuisine of the area. Because we were eating with 6 of my wife's family/friends who live in the area, we chose off a 5 course menu but everything we had was spot on. I particularly liked the venison I had both as a starter done in a tartare and then as my main with trout roe to add some savory/saltiness. I'm very partial to wines from FVG and so their wine list is insanely good. The service was as friendly and helpful as it was for us 4 years ago. I would caution visitors that menu translation can be an issue but it's generally pretty easy to figure out. We can't wait to come back.
This is my first negative review in years. Several issues here that significantly dampened what should have been a great experience. The servers were not excited about translating the menu for us into english. The italian was not clear at all. The servers were annoyed No bread plate. One server took away two of our plates while we were still eating, actually eating Our wonderful lambshank was carved tableside and most of the meat remained on the bone which was taken away. Sommelier was very helpful! Intermezzos were a delight This is not Michelin star quality. So many better experiences. Pass on this one and eat in Slovenia. Much better chefs and service
My partner and I spent 3 delightful evenings in the Wood House at La Subida. We were visiting Friuli to gain a better understanding of Italian wines of the region and La Subida 's location in the heart of the Collio region, straddling northeastern Italy and Slovenia, was ideal. La Subida itself offers phenomenal peace and tranquility and great accommodations. Moreover, its Trattoria al Cacciatore offers what is certainly as fine a dining experience as possible in the region. An absolute must (to stay, as well as to dine) if spending any time in Friuli.
Was here in 2009 way before the Michelin star and loved it. It was great to return. The Sirk family really provides and authentic experience of the region. Top quality ingredients, proper kitchen technic, good presentation and lovely, caring, attentive and informative service. Not to mention the good selection of local wines.
