Our friends brought us here—very much a local chipper and no tourists here! It was excellent. There is no seating room, but worth it! Food is cooked up fresh in front of you. Very good garlic mayonnaise to eat with your chips! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Fry Traditional Fish Chip Shop:
The food was mediocre; the burgers were generic and lacked flavor. The chips were decent, at least. Overall, I would rate the food a 2, the service a 3, and the atmosphere also a 3. View all feedback.
Best chips in cork when busy, but re-heating chips when the chipper is quite is not acceptable.

I’ve been going to The Fry for years and I have yet to get bad food there. Many people turn their noses up at chippers and dismiss them as fast food joints but they have become the backbone of food outlets. The positive things about The Fry are that (a) the portions are very generous (one portion of fries is plenty for at least 2 people) and (b) they only use natural potatoes for their chips. The one downside of The Fry is the queues. They can sometimes be as bad if not worse than KC’s. Not very nice on a cold winters night. So make sure to time your visit appropriately. Probably the best chipper in Cork
I hadn’t been to the Fry for a while and had a longing for fish and chips. Where else would you go except The Fry on Station Road Ballincollig. Entering this small but excellent traditional chipper has always been great. You meet people in the queue and the staff are pleasant and courteous and have a fantastic ability to remember orders. The food is fresh, plentiful and very tasty. Their chips are freshly cut and cooked as orders come in. Their burgers are fantastic and again cooked as you wait. The Fry is always great for food and be assured you won’t be hungry after it.
The fry is a very small traditional take-away that has been here for as long as I can remember. Its popularity with locals has continued from the time when Ballincollig was a small village 8 miles from Cork City to now when Ballincollig has been subsumed into the city by a boundary extension. The food is always fresh and tasty and the portions are generous. This is not fine dining, but comfort food at its best. Fish and chips, burgers, sausages etc. The fry has been here long before most of the restaurants and take-aways in Ballincollig and will no doubt be here when many of them have gone.
