if they are near cork and want an amazing meal definitiw make the time to stop in sunflour. it was by far the best food we had during the journey through the world. everything is made from ground when they order it and they can say in the quality of food / ingredients. most of the menu can be made vegan and it is not a afterthought. the sweet garlic bread was from this world and everything else was also amazing. in a... What Anonym dislikes about Sonflour:
as we were 12 people, we decided to get one out and the problem is. they got our order and obviously prepared it before we pick it up. I ordered a suppe and was a little shocked to find so little suppe in the container that it hardly covered the floor and (of course) it was cold. cold pumpkin suppe is not very nice! Simply the most incredible culinary experience I've ever had. I've been vegan for 5 years and have never experienced so amazing eating. my partner and I ate both for under 50 € and the chef came out to chat with us twice. he has an incredible talent to cook and is very passionate about what he does. the vegan cheesecake was also absolutely to die. I can't say enough good things about this place, highly recommended.
I visited cork to get a tattoo. my tattoo artist while learning I was vegan recommended this place to me. I had only a short time between the completion of my tattoo and the need to catch a train to dublin. I have rushed to this place and the staff was very friendly and assured that they could do something very fast. I got the focaccia vinyl to-go that had so much taste and was very pleasant to eat. it was done in a few minutes. If I go back to cork, I would like to have a real sit-down menu here.
Love the atmosphere in sonflour, it is really cosy, the staff is friendly and you can see the chefs or even talk to them. The food is high quality and fresh. There are different options and you can choose your own sauce for the pasta. It is super busy so if you are planning to go for dinner make sure to book in advance. We ordered the pistachio pesto with linguine and the potato pizza for lunch. The linguine was perfectly al dente. The sauce was a little underwhelming as it appeared to be only made of pistachios. Some herbs would have given it some flavor which it lacked. The potato pizza was a little on the small side but super tasty on a perfect dough that wasn't too heavy. It was beautifully topped with a variety of Irish potatoes prepared 3 ways: pureed, chips, and cubed. The coffee creme brulee was painfully small but flavorful enough. A nice overall meal.
