I love this place, walked up mountains, came back down and stopped here for a pint of stout and a meal, cracking view. Staff friendly, I was a bit weary at first as I thought it would be full of locals, who are fed up of visitors, but it was OK.. View all feedback.
Excellent bar, excellent prices very welcoming and friendly staff. Outdoor seating I could not ask for more!
Lovely pub right at the end or start of the Hardknott/Wrynose Pass-food good and reasonable price.
From the moment we arrived at King George, we felt welcomed. We ordered two dishes: lasagna and ham with chips, both cooked to perfection. It's a lovely country pub, and we will definitely be back.
--- Since 2005, the King George Inn, a traditional coaching pub located in the village of Eskdale, has welcomed numerous visitors over the years. Recently taken over by the team from the Bower House Inn, the pub offers a small selection of ales, a pool table, and a darts board. There's a cozy seating area at the front and a spacious area at the rear, both providing stunning views. This is a must-visit pub during any stay in Eskdale, even if it's just for a quick stop! It’s conveniently located near the Fisherground campsite and chalets, and is also close to the Ravenglass-Eskdale Railway station.
I have stayed here multiple times in a self-catering apartment. The pub was fantastic—great food and a warm atmosphere. The accommodation was excellent: warm, clean, and cozy with an open fire. The bathroom had a lovely bath and shower, and the facilities were great. The location was perfect for walking. I really enjoyed our long weekend stay!
