Description

Nestled in a bustling area, this restaurant presents a mixed bag of dining experiences. While some customers rave about their steak and fish and chips, loving the generous portions and quick service, others find significant faults. Complaints about thick, soggy batter on the fish, small chip servings, and delivery mishaps mar the overall impression. Guests have also noted issues with portion sizes and the helpfulness of the staff, leading to frustration. Despite these critiques, the eatery's recent refurbishment and varied menu provide a glimmer of hope for improved experiences in the future, appealing to both new and returning patrons.

The price for what you receive is absolutely ridiculous. I laughed at the woman and told her I would not be returning. The smallest and lowest quality bag of chips I have ever received. Every other chip shop in town gives larger portions of food. Two orders, with one being smaller, cost almost 7 pounds. Absolutely ridiculous.

The delivery took almost two hours and when it finally arrived, some food was missing. This was the third time in a row that the order was incorrect. The restaurant has become a complete mess. I ordered two kids meals to avoid cooking, but they arrived at bedtime. I will not be ordering from Paul Greenway and PG Chips ever again. The staff was unhelpful and useless. They offered a refund on my next order, but I declined as I have no plans to return. This was a cheap lesson for me, but costly for them. The takeaway experience was shocking.

I have visited this restaurant before and always enjoyed their steak supper, but tonight I tried the fish and chips and was not impressed. The batter was thick, soggy, and greasy, and could have been crispier. It seemed like the oil temperature was not high enough, as the batter soaked up too much oil. The taste of oil lingered all night and there was more batter than fish. I will not be ordering this dish again.

Its a good Chippy and well worth it if you want a fish meal. Plenty parking and quick cheerful service

Called very hungry, after a 5 hour drive! I waited a long time but knew it was being cooked fresh so thought it would be worth it! Had heard one girl ask for single fish over and over. Other had said it was in. Orders started to go out which had been well after mine. Then heard it again.... where’s the single fish? There obviously wasn’t one!! I watched as they stuck a fish in and then said to me...”Your’s is almost ready!” I asked if that hadn’t been it just going in? They actually lied and said it wasn’t. I felt like walking out but I was too tired and too hungry. When eventually my order was ready I left and drove to a lay-by to eat it! Wish I’d checked it before leaving the premise! The fish was very undercooked and dripping in oil! The batter was soggy and stodgy! The chips were disgusting... tough and rubbery! I actually requested a listing for this chip shop on Tripadvisor... so that I could review it. Put simply...worst I’ve ever had!! The only thing worse than the food is the service!!
