Amazing food and incredible service. The $3 margarita tasted like candy! I got a flat tire on my road bike in the parking lot, and they were so awesome to keep my bike safe inside the back of the restaurant until I could come back for it. JW is the man and hooked me up, and Sam the bartender is fantastic. Great place with awesome music too!

Jw's Place is a true treasure! This charming family-run restaurant makes you feel like you’re dining at your grandmother’s table, enjoying dishes made from fresh ingredients straight from the garden, farm animals, and catfish pond. Restaurants like this deserve recognition for preserving authentic Southern cuisine. The fried chicken was tender and juicy without any greasiness. The catfish was expertly seasoned and breaded to perfection. The collard greens were rich in flavor with a delightful smoky touch. I’m not sure why it’s not more popular, but today it definitely earned a loyal family of regulars!

The atmosphere was amazing, thanks to a live band, and the staff were very welcoming. However, the food fell short—I’ve had better BBQ at other places. If I come back, it will be just for the entertainment.

The restaurant was overpriced with small portions and the food was lacking in flavor. I ordered the BBQ sandwich, which had a lot of fat and cost $13. I was informed that fries were included with the sandwich, but I ended up being charged an additional $2 for them. My wife ordered the macaroni and cheese, but she was not impressed with it either, as the serving size was quite small.

When we arrived, we seated ourselves, and the owner's daughter promised to bring us menus, but the owner beat her to it. She took our drink order and informed us that our waitress, Kayla, would be over shortly to take our food order. Kayla brought our drinks and was very helpful with our selections. My wife was torn between ribs and oxtail, so she asked Kayla for a recommendation (which I had anticipated). Kayla confidently suggested the oxtail, stating it comes with either rice or mashed potatoes and two sides. My wife went with the mashed potatoes, which turned out to be an excellent choice! Her other sides were mac and cheese and cabbage. I opted for the smothered pork chop, which also came with rice (though I'm considering asking for mashed potatoes next time because they were so good, more on that later). I chose okra and tomatoes along with greens as my sides. While we waited, we enjoyed the ambiance with TVs showing various programs and some great music playing (perhaps a bit loud for the crowd, but not overwhelming). The restaurant features a lovely bar area and what looks like balcony seating, which could be for private parties or extra seating during busy times. There’s also a stage on one side for live music. Our food arrived, and it was mouthwatering. Everything looked fantastic and smelled even better! We started sampling the sides, which came in separate bowls, making it convenient. The okra and tomatoes were delicious—slightly salty but very tasty! I found myself drinking the juice once I finished. The greens were so good that I could have eaten more, even when I was full. I told my wife that I definitely planned to do that next time. Her mac and cheese was creamy and cheesy—exactly what you want—not overcooked or tough. The cabbage was also well-prepared, maintaining a nice crispness. Now for the entrees... I took a bite of my smothered pork chop, and it cut through like butter. It was bursting with amazing flavor, and perfectly cooked with the ideal texture. Then I tried my wife’s oxtail, and it was melt-in-your-mouth tender! The creamy mashed potatoes paired beautifully with the oxtail, which was drenched in a delightful sauce. I have to admit, she won this round, but it was a close contest. We would have indulged in the peach cobbler for dessert had we had the room for it. Maybe next time—because we will definitely be back, possibly as soon as this week! I hope this review helps you decide whether to check them out, as they certainly deserve your support. I've attached some photos to give you a glimpse of what to expect.
