My husband's family has been going to Neal's since they opened in 1926. The photo is his mother in 1942 at Neal's. We went to Neal's to visit my Dad on Father's Day, just for a few hours as he was staying at one of their RV sites. We were told he could have 8 guests. Turns out it was 8 people total. We had a total of 6 adults and 8 children (only 4 people were actually staying overnight). My Dad was ok with paying $20 extra per person so that we could hang out with him on the river for the day. No, it was $20 per person PER DAY FOR A 3 DAY MINIMUM. I understand the 3 day minimum for lodging, but for river access?? A total of $360 for a few hours on the river?? Completely asinine. The owner that took over clearly only cares about money. We left and went to the other side of the river. We will sadly never go back to Neal's. In addition, we will be sure to tell all our extended family to steer clear. It is apparent that this place is no longer about family. We will only go to Buchanan's from now on.
My family and I were recently vacationing at nearby Andy's and we're anticipating on having a wonderful time over at Neal's and what a disappointment my kids were so saddened that the slide was not available not to mention the tetris road to get down to the river without even being worn clearly we were from out of town and it was are first time there after calling to complain the next day about paying $90.00 for what we was expecting a full service experience with all activities available and speaking to management who by the way had the most awful customer service skill and was more interested in being argumentative than trying to make things right we will definitely not be coming back there .......
We adore Neal's Lodges! It's the perfect spot to unwind in the warm Texas Hill Country. Joe Jimmy's is family-friendly and a lively spot for dancing.
We've almost used Neal's exclusively for the past 7 years. This year we were moved to the new section, called Live Oak. It's a half mile away from the river access, and all the activities. So no more walking, only driving. The spot we were in had zero trees. Seeing that it was routinely hitting 100 degrees, a little shade would have been nice. I will say, the new private shower/toilet and rec building was very nice. Having a few more would be nice, as they were always taken up. The young girls at the counter at the office were very rude and short. Telling my wife just sign it when she was looking over the fine print of the rv rental spot. Maybe it's a high turnover rate they are dealing with? Not sure? We went to the restaurant a few times for dinner, and the food was great. Last year it was kinda bland. If I can ad one suggestion: Place a few more trash boxes along the river. This may cut down on the lazy people that can't walk 100 ft or so to throw away their trash. Unfortunately, these people ruin the river with their trash. Not sure if we will be using neals next year or not. We may check out a few other RV spots down the road.
