In Goa, finding a nice shack with good food can be a challenge. However, at Utorda beach, Balton is a standout option. With only 3 shacks on the beach, Balton is the largest and offers live music in the evenings, making it unique from the others. The food here surpasses that of shacks in North Goa, impressing us with its quality. While service may be a bit slow due to limited staff, the servers are friendly and accommodating. Overall, with decent food and service, Balton is a recommendable spot for those visiting Utorda beach. We had a positive experience with servers Vishal and Rubal and will definitely return on our next visit to Goa.
The food is good, but the restaurant is dishonest. We did not inquire about the price and ordered a crab. When the bill arrived, we were charged 10,000 rupees for an 800 gram crab. The servers seemed intoxicated and unprofessional. It is best to avoid this place as their dishonesty and lack of hospitality is disappointing.
My friends and I went for dinner in the evening. We ordered a pomfret and 2 king prawns for 3 people, but the portions were very small. To our surprise, we were charged an exorbitant bill. We were extremely disappointed and will never return to this restaurant. Be cautious if you are a foreigner as they will rip you off.
Utorda beach itself was very quiet, with just two shacks, loyds Baltons. after sunset the atmosphere created by the lights decorations, the tables with candle light were just too inviting to miss, and we ended up spending more than an hour, enjoying the live music, great seafood, chips fresh fruit juices, along with the natural sound of waves in the dark night.
Went for lunch about a dozen times over Xmas with my parents who live nearby. The curries are great, the staff are friendly and helpful, the beer is always very cold. What’s not to like ? I’m sure I will be back next year.

The Balton's Shack has nice sun beds and good sunshades. The Balton's have wide menu and the food is good. And staff is friendly.

Its same with Balton' majorda. I think there is only one restaurant has the name of Balton in Utroda
Facing racism in one's own country can be pretty disturbing. This is precisely what we and couple of other guests observed while we waited at their shack for over 40 minutes just waiting for be seated and someone to take our order while they were busy entertaining foreign guests. Observed many Indian guests arguing over delays in taking order, delays in serving the order, rude behaviour of staff etc. Many new foreign guests arrived after us & were seated and served ahead of us (Indians). What snacks and restaurants like these don't realise is that Indians contribute majorly towards Goan tourism all year round. With foreign visits declining only time will tell if they will receive more Indian or foreign guests. A perfect example of "Penny wise, pound foolish". It seems like everyone in the staff have been trained to avoid Indian guests which is really very disgusting. This is a one off experience in past 8-9 visits of Goa. Hopefully this is a stand alone shack preaching racism to their staff. Please avoid.
