He converted a motorcycle engine in to a tap head and built the bar furniture. Drop in for a beer, spirit, mead, or other house pour and you will not be disappointed. I’m biased a bit because of the 90s alternative sound track but even that aside it is worth stopping by. Great prices, clean, and fun atmosphere.

My husband went to Coimbra, met a lovely guy named Rui, and had a night at Taberna 58 with his friends. The owner and his wife are cool, intelligent, fun folks.... read more My husband went to Coimbra, met a lovely guy named Rui, and had a night at Taberna 58 with his friends. The owner and his wife are cool, intelligent, fun folks. You get legit thoughtful daily chef-driven food with cheap beers and an exceptional Viking mead. This is a gem in Coimbra. A Michelin-starred trained chef who opened his own small space and will hang with you. Very relaxed. This is what Portugal and Coimbra are about. I can't wait to go back and pull another beer off the tap myself. Thanks for the Portuguese sea salt, chef!
