It was a great experience, very nice owner who with his sister with passion brings the winery. we have laid seven wines, accompanied by a cutter of meats, bacon and cheese: Good. beautiful the idea of binding the name of wines to the story of the abbot, we will definitely return when we return to the delta. recommended.
I had read about the special sandy vines grown around Pomposa Abbey, and wanted to try them. The soil kept the vines in this region from dying during the phylloxera outbreak that devastated the European (especially French wine regions in the late 1800 's, and I thought it would be my only time to try European wine on original European (not grafted American root stock. All the wines we tasted were good, and the gentleman was happy to let us try all we wanted. My favorite was the local fizzy red, FORTANA FRIZZANTE D.O.P. DEL BOSCO ELICEO. The best, in terms of long term drinkability and serious dinner wine is probably the MICROLOGUS MERLOT. We bought some of each to take back to the USA with us (because we sure won 't find it at any local wine store . My wife also liked their fizzy white wine, so we bought one to go, and drank it with dinner in our apartment that evening VERY COLD. (It hit 40 degrees C that day, and cold fizzy wine and an air conditioned apartment was a real treat after a long day of driving and sightseeing in brutal heat. They not only had wine, but other local products as well. My wife bought a bag of risotto rice, which made a nice reminder of our trip when she used at home.
We come here because of the wines. We try some red wines, but was too light for us. They have a typical wine of the region, Fortana, than try it. The shop is very nice and the staff was nice, too. Smiling and helpful :
I've been to this wine cellar to try white people. the place is beautiful, the seller is beautiful and the wines are good. all seasoned with a fair price.
Beautiful winery that was included on an NCL Cruise excursion from Ravenna Comocchio Lagoons and Winery. Friendly and welcoming staff, generous tastings, and delicious wines.
