On Saturday night even though they were very busy, they squeezed us in and despite the busyness, the service and attentiveness from the staff was excellent. foo... read more On Saturday night even though they were very busy, they squeezed us in and despite the busyness, the service and attentiveness from the staff was excellent. food was extremely fresh and beautifully prepared with very generous portions. the Maudlins always makes an excellent Caesar salad and their apple and blackberry crumble was simply delicious. A lovely restaurant for fine dining and exceptionally good value at €16.95 for two courses early bird.

Food was of a mostly excellent calibre the steak itself was a bit tough and the salad with the starter looked a little tired. Staff absolutely top notch, very caring, present, couldn 't do enough to assist. The ambience is very nice, however there was literally nowhere to hang a hat and we passed it back and forth between us during the meal. Tables very small but there is plenty of space to arrange things slightly better for comfort. This is just nitpicking however, as we did have a very pleasant meal. One niggle however: when we arrived the hostess said You do know its the Valentine 's Menu, don 't you ? I didn 't but asked if that meant there was anything terribly different or special about it. No, there wasn 't...ok. When presented with the menu, it was exactly the same menu I had just read on the website before heading down to the hotel on the 16th February. The only difference was that the price was more expensive and there were a few hearts printed on the menu. It still represented good value though.
