This is my usual catch up place when meeting friends that live in various spots acros Melbourne, its our middle ground and so I visit a lot. I have never had a meal I didn't like, in saying that I usually go for he butter chicken as it is my favourite! There is a good list of drinks to choose from, with cocktails usually being my go to. The only thing I will fault is the drink service, I often find myself trying to f... View all feedback.
What Theresa Davies doesn't like about The Groove Train - Knox:
this was a frequent place i had breakfast, lunch or dinner. Alone or with friends.food isn't that wow but it was ok.but once i ordered a Salad were the eggs weren't cooked right and lots of water came out spoiling it also the taste was below average. i asked the manager and explained to him i wasn't happy. his reaction was totally silly. instead of acknowledging the fact he questioned my ability to judge. at the end... Ordering what are essentially Asian dishes in a primarily Australian restaurant is often fraught with danger, so to speak. We've been in this predicament before, a few times, but there was I was not listening to the wife. We, my mother, brother, my wife and I, attended the Groove Train intent on indulging in some delicious food - only to come away not merely disappointed, but gutted at having to contend with what can only be described as pure rubbish.Firstly though, my bro indulged in a gourmet pizza which he said was great. Okay, okay, pizza is not Australian, however in general we're pretty good at them, as was the case with The Groove Train. We three, on the other hand, indulged in what was essentially Asian dishes. Mine was a satay chicken salady thing. Well, for starters I had to play "spot the chicken" as there were so few pieces. The flavour... Oops, the totally bland slop was unadulterated garbage, with radically overcooked veggies (including several snow peas that were incredibly mushy), tasteless satay and gluey rice. A joke Joyce! But I put up with it as I didn't want to spoil the party - so to speak. My wife tried the Chicken Wok-Fried Hokkien Noodles and on the very first bite knew she was in trouble. Overly sweet and yukky - to the max. She ate maybe 1/8 of the dish before giving up in disgust. Mum turned her hand to the Indian Butter Noodles. OMG. She gave in even before my wife had thrown in the towel; all the while my bro was eating his nice pizza. Point being, we didn't want to upset his meal.We also purchased a House White (it was cheapish), which was fine, finally walking out of the place feeling entirely cheated yet having paid what could have been a respectable $127 - if only the food was okay.Fact is, even though we weren't in close proximity to the front door, we could still feel a very cold breeze flowing in. Bottom line is that we will never return to any of The Groove Train restaurant outlets. The food was sheer rubbish, the service only acceptable and the cost for junk; ridiculous!

I visited the Groove Train in Wantirna for the first time and was disappointed. Food was well below my expectations and definitely mediocre at best. Service was ok, but not great and the ambience also not very good. I don't think that I'll go back.....
If you plan on getting a beef burger. Expect it to be nearly raw with no favor what so ever. Staff were rude
We have been here many times as a couple and as a family (we have 6 kids from 20 down to 8) and we all love it. Great food great service and while it's not the cheapest place to eat it's great value for money.
