Stone Bowl - Cincinnati

I have been coming to this restaurant for a few years now. While the service may be slow at times, the food is always hot and delicious. I highly recommend trying the ritter with noodles, it is fabulous.

I was searching for a vegan restaurant to have dinner while passing through Cincinnati (from Asheville, NC to Chicago) and was hoping to visit Loving Hut, as recommended on Happy Cow. However, upon arrival, I discovered that it had closed down. I found a nearby restaurant called Stone Shell and informed the server that I needed a vegan option. He recommended the green dip instead of the normal noodles, which I appreciated. The soup was pretty good overall, with thin noodles and marinated white button mushrooms as the main protein. It also had mung bean sprouts, grated carrots, and a little bit of scallion. The broth was okay, but lacking in flavor, although the mushrooms added some taste. I added a Thai peanut primal strip for extra protein and flavor. The British soul tang salad was disappointing, with very few ingredients and not worth the price. Despite this, the restaurant had a nice ambiance and a pleasant terrace, so dining outside may have been a better experience.

I have visited this restaurant a few times and I have to say, it's not exactly what I expected. The salad and vegan noodle appetizer are both fantastic. I have also tried all the vegan entrees: the stone bowl, ramen, and tofu teriyaki dish. They are all tasty, but my favorite is probably the stone bowl. The service can be a bit slow and during my first visit, they mistakenly tried to serve me a non-vegan stone bowl. However, I would still recommend giving this place a try if you have the patience!

Amazing family restaurant. This is one of the most important and nurturing institutions I have ever experienced. They really want the best for their customers and the community. My friend and I will return! Amazing watermelons also;

Enjoy this hidden gem for years, and while some things are no longer available on the menu, meals are still as satisfying as ever! Very recommended!
