When I placed my order, I immediately sensed that his attitude was not friendly. A few minutes later, I returned to inquire about the spiciness of my dish, as it was my first time dining there. He asked, “What did you order?” I pointed to the item on the menu, not being very familiar with the dish names. To my shock, he loudly and rudely repeated, “What did you order? Where’s your buzzer?” I have never been treated with such disrespect by restaurant staff; it felt like he was doing me a favor just to respond. While I understand that working in a busy environment can be stressful, that should never excuse mistreating customers. I had just introduced the restaurant to my brother, who had arrived in New Zealand after a long 32-hour flight, and we were both excited to eat there, but instead, I felt embarrassed by the staff's behavior. Having lived in New Zealand for five years, I have never experienced such poor treatment in any establishment. Although the food was good, I will not be returning. We decided on Malaysian cuisine, and it truly did an excellent job showcasing a diverse range of Malaysian flavors, including delicious curry dishes and popular choices like char kuey teow and dumplings, which we also tried. The food was not only delectable but also offered great value for money. The portion sizes were surprisingly generous compared to similar market experiences. The noodles had plenty of high-quality seafood, and our meals were ready in about 10 minutes, which was quicker than we anticipated. Ordering was simple via a machine, and there were many discounts and specials available! I can't wait to return when I'm back in Ōtautahi!
