Spice offers a mixed experience that combines flavorful cuisine with variable service quality. Diners praise the authentic Indian and Bangladeshi dishes, citing fresh ingredients and generous portions that evoke memories of Brick Lane. However, some guests report issues like awkward upselling and delays in order taking. While the atmosphere is generally pleasant, loud noise levels on busy nights can hinder conversation. Many highlight the friendly staff and welcoming owner, contributing to a relaxed dining experience, yet lapses in attentive service, such as missed birthday arrangements, have been noted. Overall, Spice achieves great food, though service consistency remains a concern.

First class food and an exceptionally friendly owner. We had a wonderful evening here tonight (Oct 2021) and were thrilled to find some more authentic tasting dishes. As good as anything we’ve had in Brick Lane and definitely a much better atmosphere. We’ll be back as soon as we’re able.
Great eating as always with fresh ingredients without any artificial coloring that are often used in Indian restaurants. great service and a cheap wine list.
Not quite as contemporary as advertised, unless it is a new meaning for the positiw dim lighting. yet we had a pleasant meal. there is.

My family and I, a party of 8, were very pleased with the quality of the food and excellent service at this restaurant. The staff was friendly and we would definitely come back when we are in the area again.
We have been enjoying takeout and dining in at Spice for several years now, after being recommended by a friend. Last night, we had a perfect takeout meal with Lamb Pasanda and Korai Chicken - a great combination. The flavors were superb, the portions were generous, and it was good value for money. The food was ready on time as well. We are looking forward to dining in next time.
I had a wonderful dining experience on Saturday night. The waiter, Afjol, provided really friendly service. The food was delicious and served promptly, with reasonable prices.
Having read good reviews I visited here with my wife. We were seated quickly and given menus. Very quickly we were given pickles/dips on an assumption that we wanted popadoms….. which meant we felt awkward and we had to say yes and order some, when we didn’t really want them. After that it took a long time for our order to be taken, although the food came in good time. The food itself was very average. The curry sauces seemed ‘gloopy’ and the meat on the bone was poor quality, albeit tasty. Through the meal my wife and I struggled to hear each other, largely due to the general noise levels. It was a Saturday night so some of the guests were a bit loud, but to be fair, not rowdy. The problem is the acoustics of the restaurant. The staff were lovely through the whole meal and the prices were fine,
Great food but overall service poor … our booking via web site not recorded. Called in and Spice was informed this was one of our grand children’s 14th birthday celebration. I was told the table would have decorations and a cake….. Unfortunately, no decorations..cake….we had to ask twice for lighting over our tables…. Very unlike previous visits…perhaps under new management…
