What User doesn't like about Tackle Box:
The restaurant has a visually appealing design, but lacks a very welcoming atmosphere. The prices for the food are above average and the cuisine is not traditional. However, it is a great spot for hosting events and offers a wide variety of alcoholic beverages at different price points. The establishment is a strong supporter of the Chico and Local Community. The food is delivered in the warming containers along with the warming candles and accessories to serve them, you have to return everything to them. The food will remain hot for several hours, but you need to keep the water under the serving floor. I highly recommend that you look for a stress-free event.
I?ve played sets there twice and every time the staff is Top Notch, great food, and I am happy to go again!
Let's go. Eating at the Tackle Box is a LOT like a classic Clint Eastwood movie... The good, the bathroom and the Ugly . 1., the GOOD. The food is cooked to order, served hot and fresh, with decent portions, and depending on the days there are meals specialties to have. The spices are near Spot-on and come with lots of spices. The atmosphere is classic country, with pool and video games, and a fully dimensioned bar. I ordered the Boar Burger with Fritten, my wife ordered the French Dip with Fritten, and my son ordered the Fried Gator with Fritten (ALL pictured). We also ordered the Fried Mushrooms as an appetizer. Don't let mince words... the boar was well cooked and HEAVY, and had a light playy taste that was expected. The Gator was perfectly seasoned and slightly chewing...again, expected. The French dip was full of meat and vegetables, and the meat was tender. 2nd, the BAD... for the food. Since everything is prepared to order, we waited and waited... and waited. Each order came in 10 minutes increments that did not belong. For our orders it took a total of 40 minutes. Eating a meal as a family was almost ruined. 3., the UGLY... the lack of enthusiasm by the customer, the cook and the server. Everyone looked like they could or should be somewhere, but there, and the amount of flies in the facility. It is hard to eat when you constantly fly watting from both your drink and meal. This place is 3 stars alone through food, but has plenty of space to improve, especially when ordering out and customer service. Yeah, I understand it's a hole in the wall, but it should be BETTER. I can eat here again, but not with the family.
Went to the Ned Ledoux concert last night, and by far it was amazing. The bar itself is pretty damn cool looking. Beer was a great price, bartenders excellent, security great, by far an awesome concert and bar. What ever low stars were given for this place is not true. 10 stars for everything this bar is about. Beer, concert t shirts, hats, and 2 records was worth what we paid last night.
Awesome food. Monday burger special is best in town. 3 for 1, really good classic cheese burger . Fries and pizza are great too. The weekend music scene at The Box is the place to be for the top shelf acts of the Northern California region.
