I have eaten at two different places and when eating is this so daring tasty takeout I cannot imagine in. that eating is fresh, and seasoned to perfection. I had ties, macn cheese, sooo cheese and cornbread, which like mamas taste better! the cheesy geese were smoothly buttery with a hauch of green wobble, I could eat them for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I thought I was in new orleans, where I was a gummy, spicy, fleshy, heavenly. I can't say enough about virtual, I can't expect to be able to experience indoor eating. do not wait, eating is a total experience on your own faust! 10 stars
Love love love!!! Freddy was absolutely the friendliest server in the world, the Sazerac was smooth and delicious, I devoured the catfish, and the tartare was everything. Virtue is doing COVID right; this is the only restaurant I've been to doing temperature checks. Bottled water was given rather than tap and poured; loved everything about all the steps being taken. Please make sure to come out and support!
What a gem. The ambiance is great at the restaurant, but more importantly the food itself is ace. Creative menu of southern classics including blackened catfish, fried gizzards, greens, etc. My two favorite things I've had: a porkchop special I had 2 weeks ago that was so large it made two meals, and their incredible banana pudding. Full disclosure, I last ate there in person 8 months ago. Since then I have only gotten takeout. It's hard to capture the magic of an upscale restaurant with takeout, but somehow they manage to do it.
I was happy to learn of those upscale southern soul food restaurant in Hyde Park. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the staff was very knowledgeable of the food and menus. We started with Fried Green Tomatoes. I wasn't impressed as they were tothickly cut and lacked salt. It was recommended by our waiter that my sister and I try the the short ribs. I'm glad we did. Theywere tender and well seasoned and the gravy was superb. We also added the cornbread, Mac and cheese as a side and bananapudding and red velvet cake for dessert. All of our choices did not disappoint us. Delish! I give 4 stars for having to pay anon refundable 20.00+tax for a reservation for 2 (was applied to the bill) and paying a 3.5% surcharge to assist with employeeinsurance. Because of these extra fees unfortunately I may not return.
Went on a Sunday afternoon and the place was booked up the entire day, but luckily it was only about a 10min wait for seats at the bar. After tasting the food, I understand completely as to why they are booked and busy. The food was absolutely deliciousand seasoned to perfection as well as healthy portion sizes. The star of the show was the Strawberry Bread Pudding. I would comeback to this restaurant specifically for that as I will make it a point to eat here the next times I come to Chicago.
