Smoque BBQ - Chicago
Smoque BBQ
Description
After years of not visiting, we returned to a BBQ restaurant with high hopes, only to be let down by dry ribs and fatty brisket. Despite friendly service and BYOB option, we were disappointed in the food quality. Another reviewer found the brisket tasty but the pulled pork lacking. A negative review highlighted patio issues with bugs and flies. However, there were positive reviews as well, with praises for the brisket, pulled pork, and sandwiches. One customer declared it to be the best BBQ in Chicago, with flavorful meats and delicious sides. Overall, while some reviewers found flaws in certain dishes, many others praised the restaurant for its delicious BBQ offerings and friendly service.

Sooooo good! We had the brisket and the pulled pork and both meals tasted like heaven (if you’re a fan of grill goods). It’s the kind of place that looks really simple on the outside but is full all the time because there is just amazingly good food. 10/10, recommend
I cannot imagine encountering a better smokehouse anywhere, I love BBQ its my #1 favorite food so I like to think i know what im talking about? Smoque has the best brisket and the best beans ever... and I dont just mean in Chicago alone!
Cannot complain! On a couples vacation, we stopped in here after reading all the good reviews on here and recommendation from Guy Fieri. Between 2 of us, we ordered ribs, pulled pork, brisket, cornbread, mac n cheese, coleslaw and fries. Everything was delicious and portion sizes were perfect. Left with leftovers. They give you their 3 different sauces on the side and those were great as well. Their classic sauce, classic sauce with a kick (spicy) and a sauce with vinegar base. And although they don't sell/have alcohol, they are byob. The indoor area has about 15 tables and their outdoor area and to go windows constantly kept customer traffic flowing smoothly. Definitely worth a stop if you're in town. They have delivery options as well.
Everything is good here and there is a nice selection of BQ sauces. Our favorite is the brisket with a side of baked beans.
I love barbecue and my wife and I are in Chicago to drop off our daughter for college and saw Smoque on Diners, Drive In and Dives so we had to try it. Some of the best barbecue that I have ever had. Summary as follows: St. Louis Ribs we’re very tender and had great flavor even without added sauce. Pulled Pork was melt in your mouth tender. Brisket was also very tender with a nice bark. I wasn’t a huge fan of the bark, it was okay, but I prefer bark with a bit more kick to it but my wife loves it. Cornbread tasted like good southern cornbread should taste as too many places now make it so it tastes like a corn muffin not corn bread. Barbecue beans had chunks of barbecue and were the best beans I have ever had. Coleslaw had way to much celery flavor for me but I hate celery. My wife loved it. Barbecue gumbo was out of this world good. I wish I had gotten a bowl of it versus just a cup. Watermelon Iced Tea I have never heard of but decided to try it and I really liked it. Not real sweet with just enough watermelon to taste it and good enough that I got a second cup. Unfortunately too full for dessert as I would have loved to try their peach cobbler. I can’t wait to go back on our next visit. .
