Uru-swati - Chicago
Uru-swati
Description
Uru Swati offers a vegetarian haven amidst the bustling Indian restaurant scene, boasting an extensive menu filled with familiar favorites. While many dishes, including the giant dosa and flavorful chaats, are praised for their taste and authenticity, some diners have experienced service delays and miscommunication regarding vegan options. The ambiance is inviting, making for a pleasant dining experience, though cleanliness issues, particularly in the restrooms, have raised concerns. Despite its shortcomings, Uru Swati remains a solid choice for vegetarian cuisine, especially for those hunting for budget-friendly meals on Devon Avenue.

Feedback
I ordered from this restaurant through Grubhub and was really looking forward to my meal. However, I was immediately disappointed when I discovered a long hair in my kheer. I called the restaurant and they quickly refunded my money, but I didn't receive any additional compensation for what I felt was a significant issue. The hair was quite noticeable, which definitely left a bad impression, especially since I was unsure if the person on the phone was actually talking to me or to someone else. On the positive side, the food was good. While I'm grateful for the prompt refund and how the situation was handled, I still didn't walk away feeling great about the experience, and it made me hesitant to go to the store to pick up my kheer.
My recent visit to this restaurant was wonderful. The restaurant is a vegetarian establishment with a great selection of dishes. The customer service was excellent and the variety of food was impressive. The dishes we tried, including dahi puri, vada pav, paneer paratha, dosas and chai, were all very tasty. The only downside was that it is located on a busy street, so parking can be difficult during peak hours.
I tried the papdi chat, dahi vada, puri bhaji, and thandai at this restaurant. The chaats and puris were delicious, but I was disappointed with the thandai. I was expecting it to be creamy with almonds, but it turned out to be watery milk.
The food at this restaurant is delicious and remained hot and fresh even through delivery. I personally enjoy the Mysore Dosa, while my wife loves the bhel. Some bites were a bit too spicy for our taste, so we recommend asking for mild if you can't handle the heat. The pakoras and rotis are excellent, tasting just like homemade. The pani puri is also very good. The Dal Tadka and Dal Makhani were outstanding. Overall, this is a great Indian restaurant with a variety of options for those who are familiar with Indian cuisine.
