Tarantino's - Chicago
Tarantino's
Description
Located amidst a plethora of Italian restaurants, this spot fell short - hard pasta and tough chicken parm. Despite sweet servers, meals weren't up to par for the price. On the contrary, a Chicago classic, this bustling eatery offers off-menu delights like veal parmigiana and delightful black linguine, perfect for group gatherings. A disappointing experience for another reviewer, who left due to long waits and uninventive dishes. However, a bright spot for many who praise the rich pasta, intimate atmosphere, and top-tier service by waitstaff like Maddy. Despite some ups and downs, the neighborhood place is adored for its consistent eats, especially the must-try pork chop. Overall, this restaurant is a delightful spot for delicious Italian fare, perfectly paired wines, and warm service, despite a few missteps on certain occasions.

We dined on Friday night. The food here is always good. The special Black Sea bass was amazing. The restaurant feels a little more crowded. The noise level was a bit higher. Even so we had a great meal.
At Tarantino 's on Armitage the food was just okay. Not bad, not good. I had the Rigatoni and it was just okay. My husband had the Chicken Piccata and he said it was very tasty. I thought the prices were high especially any of the desserts. The server was just okay. Not rude but not friendly. The friendly person was the guy refilling our water and the hostess. It was very noisy. The tables are crowded and very close. The ceilings are tin and high. The tables are covered in paper so there was nothing for sound reduction. After dinner the four of us were all so happy to get out onto the street where we could talk without yelling. In other reviews I read complaints about the restaurant stressing that you could only stay 90 minutes. That was not mentioned to us at all. Maybe because were arrived at 7pm and 90 min was 9pm. I think this restaurant needs to check into what they can do to cancel some of the noise. This restaurant does the adding 3% to your bill that you can request they take off. They say this hidden cost is to offset their increasing costs. This is so deceptive and I don 't want to go to a place that uses that tactic. They should raise their prices and have our true cost on the menu out in the open. Not to mention it is obvious that their prices have gone up to reflect their increasing costs. We are not planning to return. Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
