While some experienced slow service and cold, tasteless food, others raved about the fabulous dishes and attentive staff. Special shoutouts were given to servers like Danny and Eugene who went above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. The live jazz music and cozy atmosphere added to the charm of this neighborhood favorite. Despite some minor hiccups, Mia Francesca remains a go-to spot for those craving delicious Italian cuisine.
We had a party of 9 people, and went with high expectations considering the good rating on Google Maps. That seems to be a lie. We rated the food as below average, with it being served cold and a bit tasteless. The server messed up our order, which means that we waited for over 10 mins for 2 members of our party to get their food, while the rest of us had our plates. The service was quite slow, and we almost cancelled our post meal teas because they took such a long time and the restaurant was about to close.
Grabbed a last minute reservation with a great friend (neither of us had been back here for probably 20 years) and we had the best service and delicious meal! Maddy was our waiter and he was the perfect balance of sarcasm, humor, wit and all of his recommendations were spot on for us AND he was super attentive. I recommend the pasta with short ribs and his wine pairing was perfect. Oh how I've missed this place!
The food was excellent, always is. Only disappointment was the way we were treated by our main server. We were dressed very casually as we went there after a Cubs game. Server didn’t appear interested in being our server. All others who worked there were wonderful. First time in over 40 years I left less than 20% gratuity. We will be back when in the area, won’t let one person spoil a terrific spot.
Great little Italian restaurant that serves fresh homemade dishes. We finally had an excuse to come after walking by for forever and so glad we did.Overall the food, service and atmosphere was great, we will be back to try more dishes.Drinks: Italian old fashioned was very good, Lemon martini was also good With dessert be sure to get an espresso martini, we had two and they were amazing, Apps: Calamari was cooked to perfection, Dinner: Ravioli was great in the cream sauce and we had no left overs. Short rib linguine was so good and was a HUGE portion, took half of it home. Dessert: Get the tiramisu
Hubby and I stopped in here after a cubs game and were glad we did. I was craving Italian food and this definitely hit the spot. We didn’t have a reservation, but it was early dinner so the place was not full yet and we asked to sit in the outdoor area. The bread was warm and delicious. It had a beautiful crust that crunched perfectly. It had great texture and was delicious with the olive oil. For our appetizer we shared the lentil dish which was warm and had a wonderful delicate flavor. If you like lentils then this dish is for you. I had the mushroom ravioli which was creamy and delicious. My husband had the rigatoni and that red sauce was perfectly Italian. Tasty and warm. For dessert, we shared the tiramisu, which isn’t made in house, but wherever it comes from it’s delicious. The lady fingers are perfectly soaked and the mascarpone cream was perfectly flavored. It’s a shame we found this place on our second to last day in Chicago because I definitely want to visit again. The open patio was very pleasant and romantic, but as we walked through the restaurant to exit the building we noticed it was very loud and the bar had tv’s as any sports bar would; I’m a little confused about that setup, but that would not deter me from visiting if ever in Chicago again. I highly recommend this place if you like Italian food.
