Was Rye at Lost Larson a mag?
little bakery with rotating menu and fresh goods. cinnamon rolls are huge, and the hint of lemon in the icing added a nice dynamic to the flavor. it was fluffy but also dense. cardamom bun was good and chewy. a little pricey but i’d be interested in trying more. View all feedback.

Unfriendly Service! I must say, I’m surprised that a beautiful place like the Andersonville location of Lost Larson has such an unpleasant atmosphere. Love this place and their cute patio. Highly recommend the afternoon tea bun and the cinnamon roll
The cinnamon rolls are amazing! They’re usually busy, so order ahead if you can!
For a young independent bakery, the overall quality is decent. The emphasis on Swedish themes feels more like a branding gimmick than an authentic experience. When I tasted the Kanelbullar, they didn't remind me of the ones I've had at Gateaux, Fabrique, K Maerkt, or Petrus in Stockholm. The Kardemummbullar were a bit closer to what I remember, but the Kanelbullar were quite different from what I've experienced in Sweden, Finland, or Norway. They were very buttery and light, but had more of a flaky, croissant-like texture rather than a soft, doughy consistency.
Their baked goods are incredible—definitely a solid 6 out of 5 stars! However, the table service is a bit unconventional. You can add your name to the list before placing your order, but then you have to wait about 15 minutes for a table after you've ordered. While I understand this approach for managing the flow of customers, what's puzzling is that once you're seated, you still have to wait over 10 minutes for the coffee you ordered. It feels strange to be sitting there with your food but no drinks. The food is objectively fantastic—some of the best pastries in the city— but the table service leaves a lot to be desired.

I've finally discovered my beloved Larson! My spouse and I enjoyed a coffee date, where we tried a cortado, drip coffee, and cappuccino, accompanied by a chocolate croissant, cinnamon roll, and tebirkes. Everything was absolutely delicious! We will definitely be coming back! Larson, you were fantastic! I'm now a fan! Thank you!
Amazing pastries, some of the best in the city. Super cute seating, and it's even better when the patios are open because indoor seating can be tight.
I love the bread here! I used the country loaf to make avocado toast for my book club. Needless to say, it was a hit. Come in for the pastries and pick up a loaf of bread if you can.
I am absolutely obsessed with this bakery. You can smell the sweet smells of pastries and coffee when you walk in. There is a cute little flour mill behind a glass case that adds to the ambiance. If you are in the neighborhood, you are going to want to pop in. Kudos to this little shop and to the people who have created it.

Rather than enhancing the customer experience, they seem to be going in the opposite direction. Choose wisely when it comes to spending your time and money here, and best of luck.
Absolutely amazing! This is the best coffee I've ever had in Chicago. Make sure to go early or place your order ahead of time, as the pastries disappear quickly. I tried the princess cake, but I would return every day just to sample their different pastries. They offer their own unique coffee blend, which makes it even more special.
With an increase in business, it seems they no longer feel the need to work hard to earn our patronage. Prices have gone up, but service has gone downhill, and now we find ourselves bringing our own food, utensils, and even water to the table. It honestly feels foolish to be paying these prices for such subpar service. It seems the goal here has shifted to doing the bare minimum while maximizing profits from customer traffic. Each visit has left me feeling disappointed, so I’ve decided not to return. Whether the issue lies with the owner or the overall culture of the place, it’s hard to say, but it’s clear that something has been seriously amiss for quite some time.

Pricey? Yes. Perfect? Yes! We were looking for a replacement for Swedish Bakery Princess Cake. Ordered two online for pickup—the store is absolutely gorgeous. Staff immediately found our cakes when we walked in. The owner noticed our boxes were missing stickers to close the lids and came over himself to add them meticulously. The cake—possibly better than the original Swedish Bakery (ever so slightly less sweet), and definitely with a sharper, more modern look. One 8-inch cake was enough for 20 modestly sized portions. Definitely going back for more cake and to try all the other stunning pastries.

This bakery feels like a divine gift, featuring exquisite cinnamon rolls, beautiful meringue tarts, and delicious lunch options. The decor combines clean white mint tones with sustainable wood, creating a refreshing atmosphere. The real question is, what to choose? Each item brings happiness, especially the Swedish pastries!
One of my favorite spots in all of Chicago! Their spinach and feta Danish is simply incredible. Each of their open-faced sandwiches is unique and delightful. I can't recommend this bakery highly enough. You should definitely go and sample everything they have to offer!
This is one of the best bakeries in town! I've never had anything there that wasn't excellent. All the pastries are definitely worth the wait, even if the lines can be long (post-COVID), but they move quickly. I'm really happy for this business and hope they continue to thrive, especially given the outstanding quality and flavor of everything they offer. If you're in Andersonville, make sure you don't miss this gem—you won’t regret it. The most popular items tend to sell out early, but there's always a great variety to sample. I can confidently say I've never been disappointed. Even if you’re just passing by after breakfast somewhere else, you can always grab something to take home!
I really wanted to be blown away by this place. We had some pastries and drinks (Chai and matcha lattes) If its one thing about Swedish bakeshops os that the drinks needs to be full of flavor. Unfortunately the drinks fell short. The pastries was ok but expected more.. Will be back to try the sandwiches tho!
This was my first time trying Lost Larson pastries and I can honestly say it was some of the best baked goods I've had in a long time! Even the plain croissant was delicious but my favorite was definitely the spinach feta pastry. Honestly though, you could probably order anything from here and you would still have a great time.
