The reviews for this Puerto Rican restaurant on Ontario Street in Chicago are mixed. While some customers had a terrible experience with rude staff and food quality issues, others had wonderful meals and felt a great vibe at the restaurant. The home-cooked meals were praised for their delicious flavors, with options for those who don't eat meat. Visitors also enjoyed the friendly service and welcoming atmosphere, making them feel right at home. Overall, it seems like this spot is worth a visit for those craving authentic Puerto Rican cuisine in the Mainland US.

Order #34 pork pasteles, arroz blanco y habichuelas. One of the best home cooked and freshly made meals I've ever had. Great atmosphere, overall just felt a great vibe. Epi and Zoraida have my full support. Y'all are amazing people, thank you for your dedication. Glad I randomly came across this gem of a spot. Take this as a sign to eat here. Stay blessed and safe La Plena family View all feedback.
What Thérèse Loiseau dislikes about La Plena:
Went to nandos ortario street and the staff were extremely rude. We travelled the whole way from Ireland to be treated in a disrespectful manner. The food was absolutely appalling and me and my family have been I’ll. The food we ordered was raw. The order we placed after ten minutes to be told they had no chicken left we had to choose something else. Horrible place. Needs health people to check it out . View all feedback.

Service is always great. The food is so delicious and the atmosphere, makes me feel like I'm home. Definitely a place to visit if you're ever in the Humboldt Park area.
The food was cooked to perfection with a true taste of Puerto Rico's seasonings. Prices were very nice! Staff was very nice, polite and offered great service.
Truly, a bird on top of this restaurant told me to eat here when my heart was asking for Puerto Rican food and plantains! HeheI very much enjoyed all of my favorite flavors and that they had options to not have meat if I didn’t want anyI had mofongo without meat and arroz con gondulez (don’t judge my Spanish lol)Only thing I would say is that the mofongo didn’t come with the sauce or liquid I usually have with the meal and the salad was nothing spectacularSuper thankful and had an amazing experienceThanks again!
