Was Arthur Hollmann at Galit a mag?

I got lucky and found a last minute table.. food was great and, as others said, hummus is an outstanding experience! I’m biased but.. the bread is also a killer! Nailed it! The only downside I’d say is the “jointed table” if you’re on your own. But that wouldn’t put me off going back again. Cheers View all feedback.

What Shazia Abdullah dislikes about Galit:

**Pros:** The service was excellent, and the ambiance had a charming neighborhood eatery vibe—bustling and fun, albeit not particularly quiet. While we don't drink alcohol, they offered an impressive selection of wines and other drinks. The dessert, the Kataifi Cigar, was truly amazing.

**Cons:** The combination of ingredients was intriguing, but the overall flavors were quite average and a bit bland, which is not what you would expect from Middle Eastern cuisine. We were presented with a fixed menu priced at $95 per person. Although we could choose one dish each from the mezze and main courses, we had to share all the appetizers, and we received only one Kataifi Cigar (which is essentially a cannoli) for dessert. We left feeling cheated, as it didn't seem worth the price to me.

Food was great, but we were sat right in front of the window where an extremely loud protest was happening. We had to listen to loud screaming through a megaphone for 2 hours. They were protesting Galit and foie gras. This is how we will remember our first wedding anniversary celebration. We were never offered a different table or any sort of compensation for the experience. Galit only offered us to go out a back door when we were ready to leave. I feel more could have been done by the Galit staff to make our time at Galit more enjoyable. They all just pretend that the megaphone screaming isn't happening. No matter how I felt about the quality of service, I was required to pay a 20% tip... Food: 4 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Price per person: $100+

Galit sells seasonal foie gras, an inhumane dish which was illegal in Chicago for years until Big Ag lobbyists overturned the ban. No conscentious Chicagoan would ever eat here. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Recommendation for vegetarians: Would not recommend

Genuinely one of my favorite restaurant experiences of all time. I have eaten at Galit or carried out at least 10x and I have never had a bad meal. A well deserved Michelin ??, and one of the nicest teams of hospitality professionals around!

This restaurant recently earned their first Michelin star and it's no wonder why! This is my new favorite Mediterranean place in the city. The food was spectacular, the staff lovely, and the location was great. It's nice to see good restaurants in LincolnPark (and not in West Loop). I adored the hummus and the homemade cheese from the appetizer course, the cabbage and rice dish, and the rice pudding dessert (these were from their Restaurant Week menus). Everything we ate was amazing though! They have aregular fixed price menu for dinner that looked amazing, so you should definitely check it out!

Galit was amazing. Went here with the girlfriend for her birthday. It was our first Michelin star restaurant we've ever tried. Great atmosphere. We sat at the kitchen bar. The fixed menu is easy. Server was really knowledgeable. Wine menu was very uniquewith a lot of middle eastern wines you don't see many places.

I've been to other Michelin star restaurants. Some of the best Middle Eastern and Israeli food I have had! Lots of options and very affordable compared to other Michelin star restaurants. Nothing out of the ordinary, so a very comfortable diningexperience all around. I left very full from their $69 full course and I am a 205lb+ man. Simple Middle Eastern staples acrossthe menu. Pita is made to order in a hearth oven. Very affordable. Hip place that's great for sharing food in a group or on adate. You will leave full. Impressive wine selections, especially from the Middle East. Not super creative, but nothing wrongwith simple done well. The Pastrami and the Carrot Cake is to die for!

The tasting menu is amazing! Everything is super fresh flavorful. The turkey entree was my favorite. The to-go cookie at the end is a great touch

Best meal I've had this year. Tehina Hummus, all of the Salatim dishes, Carrots and Falafel Mezzo, Lamb Kebab and Wood-roasted Cabbage. The flavors were all delicious and will definitely come back.

The food was incredible—healthy, delicious, and sourced from local farms. The wine selection was outstanding. I was too full to enjoy a cocktail this time, but I definitely want to return for drinks and a lighter meal.

I believe this was one of the best meals I've ever experienced. I highly recommend trying the lamb kebab; it offers a unique twist on a classic dish.

Best hummus and bread i’ve had ever!! I can see why this place has a Michelin star. Service was great — my only complaint is I wish the course pacing felt less rushed!

Loved the experience. The food is amazing and the service is top notch. Would love to come back next time I'm in town. We sat at the bar this time which was cool and still felt like we had our own space.

Food was absolutely amazing. Their housemade natural sodas were great too. The kumquat one was amazing however, the pomegranate one was pretty bland. Only reason I’m giving 4 stars is I don’t really like how we were charged extra for employee health insurance. With the prices that are being charged the employer should be able to cover that instead of making us foot an extra 5% on the bill. Other than that the food was great and so was the service.

The food is good $88/person tasting menu as of October 2023. But you still have to pay extra for some items like lobster. I love the foie gras toast. The junk fee 5% employee health insurance is what I really hate and make it -1 star. Otherwise it’s a solid 4 star (great value, but not enough to let me intentionally come again

The food and service at this restaurant are amazing. The staff went above and beyond to make our celebratory dinner unforgettable. I would highly recommend this place to anyone celebrating a special occasion. We wish we could have tried more dishes, but that just gives us a reason to come back. The portions are generous, so make sure to come with a good appetite. Thank you for the fantastic evening, Galit!

We decided to try out Galit for a casual Friday night dinner with a friend. We were seated right in front of the kitchen, which was entertaining to watch everyone working their magic. The service was great, the menu was diverse, and the atmosphere was fun. I recommend going hungry because you will leave full! I enjoyed the choose your own adventure dining experience, making it a great option for a date night. The combination of sharables is perfect for adventurous diners. I highly recommend this Michelin star restaurant if you're unsure of what you're in the mood for. You're sure to find items on the menu that will satisfy both your palate and your hunger.

Beautiful food. I loved the pickled items and the yogurt butter. The fish was so delicious. I would come here again. They also gave us cookies for the road on our way out. I think they over booked because they place was packed and they charged us for call , which is weird and I had never seen a that before.

DIVINE! Their tasting menu is very generous so go prepared to eat a lot. Portions are generous. Excellent cocktails. Place has great energy and vibes. I’d recommend going with a group so you can try more dishes. We thought all dishes were good. Our most favorite were the Turkey shawarma and the Pastrami. Least favorite was the fava beans appetizer, I’d recommend skipping. Next time I’m visiting chicago, I’ll definitely go again.

One of the best meals of my life! So much food and everything was amazing, every bite had so much flavor, everything was my favorite. I loved getting to try so many different things in different courses. We ordered every dessert even though we were SO FULL the tres leches cake was incredible. BEST falafel of my life, sticky sweet carrots we loved, and the service was amazing, we felt so special! I could eat here every day.

???One of the rare upscale Mediterranean spots that shines bright because of its service and exotic food. They have a 4 course with a choice for 3/3 courses. Drinks are extra and they add a employee insurance charge to your check. We spent around $190 for 2 with taxes for dinner 2 cocktails. Appetizers are delicious and the shawarma for entree is perhaps the best dish. We were a little disappointed with their recommended falafel. A little too hard to chew. Everything else was amazing. My girlfriend and I were celebrating our 2 yr anniversary and the service made the dinner extra special for us with personal touches like a staff-signed card, cookies to-go and free champagne.
