Formentos is a popular restaurant in Chicago's Fulton Market neighborhood, known for its ambiance and delicious food. However, some customers have complained about the slow service and high prices. While some have found the food to be average given the cost, others have praised the attentive service and excellent dishes. The restaurant's outdoor seating might not offer the same ambiance as the inside, so it's worth keeping in mind when booking a reservation. Overall, Formentos seems to be a hit or miss experience for customers, depending on what they're looking for in a dining experience.

Was Monica Southcott at Formento's a mag?
I visited this restaurant for the first time tonight, and it was absolutely delightful. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the service was outstanding. Our server, Dani, and her partner made a great team and were attentive to our needs.
As someone with a gluten allergy and who is also dairy-free, I usually don’t choose Italian restaurants. However, Dani walked me through the menu and helped me understand what I coul... View all feedback.
What OpenTable Diner dislikes about Formento's:
Sat us in the worst seat possible in the sun outside after having a confirmed reservation. They wanted us to sit in a booth with other people and we politely declined. There were a ton of open tables inside but “they were reserved for later.” We confirmed with them that we were only there for a couple drinks and appetizers and still no seating arrangements. The happy hour was falsely advertised on instagram does not... View all feedback.
Food was really tasty! We ordered corn bruschetta which was served with shaved truffle nice and cheesy. Loved the orecchiette pasta it was superb, chocolate cake was good too. Focaccia bread was fresh and warm, and everything was really fresh made ittasty Wine was decently priced has outdoor patio seating as well. Service could have been better so 4 star. Perfect place tohave dinner at patio or with friends.
Early dinner starting at 6pm wasn't busy/crowded at all. Sat outside where there was more tables available outside than I would've expected and spaced well. Great spot for people watching as well as there are so many characters walking by! Servicewas spot on from the get go as our server was extremely friendly having us laugh along with her. Gave good recommendations whenwe had questions and checked on us without going overboard. Felt like we had ordered the entire menu as we got a nice range ofdishes. Started off right as they brought out black pepper focaccia with olive oil to wet our whistle. For an appetizer, Oysterswere tasty (east coast tasted smoother and would recommend those). Definitely get the burrata and heirloom tomatoes as well asgrandma's meatballs. Tiger prawns were the only meh dish as they were a bit mushy in texture and so so flavor. All pastas weregreat, but the carbonara nailed it with the crispy pork bits. Chicken parm was succulent as was the skirt steak. Tiramisu wasexcellent, but the chocolate cake took the... Well, took the cake. Moist, succulent, right amount of sweetness... We orderedanother to go. Must come back!
Great restaurant if you 're trying to be that person . It 's VERY expensive for what you get. I ordered the Buccatini and was told it was a small size for $26 and that if I wanted a normal size it was going to be at least $50 . FOR PASTA!? I get it, you guys are cool and in Fulton Market, but maybe lets not take ourselves too seriously. All in all, it was nice. Server basically lived at our table and never really left us alone to conduct our dinner meeting. However, there was one glaring issue that I hope they consider changing. When we arrived, we had two out of three of our guests. They wouldn 't seat us with two out of three guests. Really? You 'd rather have an entry way full of people standing around missing one or two people than have your guests seated and ordering drinks and appetizers? They said, it 's because the kitchen is timed so perfectly . Umm sure ok that 's cool for your marketing material but we 're here to eat dinner, not try and be as exclusive as possible. To be honest, this random hard and fast rule along with the lack of value for what we paid (nearly $400 for three people and only two drinks! I will not be bringing our doctor 's back here for any meetings.
Food was exquisite. I’m really not an Italian good person so I would say it’s hard to find a place that I actually would recommend or come again. But Formento’s had AMAZING food and drinks. It was so yummy, and the ambiance was amazing. I wouldhave gave it a 5/5 but they wouldn’t allow my service dog to come in so I had to find a last minute babysitter. I have neverhad a restaurant turn me away for having a service dog, with forms in hand. This was the first.
Great place , excellent food and wonderful service
