The food and service is fantastic. The ambience is lacking. The restaurant is so brightly lit you could perform an operation there. The paper signs in the window cheapen the place as does the neon sign that says open Dim the lights and put some candles/votives onthe tables The ambience deters me from going. But I LOVE the food. What Tyrese Kovacek doesn't like about Diamond Hook:
all other reviews for this place were very good, so we decided to try it for an anniversary occasion. this place looks more than a restaurant. there is no ambiente for the place and eating was nothing special that we had Hawaiian ahi and crabcakes, which should be very good after our waiter. the food was bland and no presentation. the crispy brussel sprouts were too oily and not crispy at all. very dissatisfied, will... We always try to support local businesses and book a reservation based on the reviews we have seen. but we were really disappointed. the D.R was almost empty and this should have been our first note. 1. service do not measure particularly friendly and could use more trining. it wasn't busy and we had to look for him a few times. 2. ambiance terrible, but at least it was calm so that you could converse. but it was very clean. 3. eating the branzino was frozen, not fresh and overcooked and very dry. I was okay. the portion size was generous. the grinding time could use more spicy (no more salt). we gave him a bad evaluation because the entry was very badly illuminated. our older friend could not see any of the steps and take a crash on the way. When we all tried to help her, I noticed the waiter outside saw what happened and didn't even stop and ask if she was okay. he looked away. I have to think about it.
We wanted to like this restaurant given it’s proximity to the movie theater. Unfortunately they are significantly understaffed and the food was so-so at best. Husband’s fish was blah and served alone on the plate. Won’t be going back.
I would definitely go here again, but like most restaurants it was understaffed. We didn't get asked if we wanted another drink, but did get refills of water. Service was lacking for sure. But the food was really good. The charred Octopus appetizer I would of ordered another. We also had the brussel sprouts, very nicely done. My wifes Ahi Tuna dish was brown, but it tasted fine, not sure why it wasn't bright red, but i read later on that it can be brown. I had the seafood platter and old fashioned. Restaurant was a bit loud, but we were next to some loud guest, but it was fine and not a big deal. Very nice dinner.
