Cafe Prague, please consider blocking off nights when you're holding private events or remove your listing from OpenTable. We were really looking forward to our visit but had to go elsewhere instead.

We went to celebrate my Dad’s 90th birthday. Our family has Czech heritage, and my parents have been to Prague several times. I wasn’t able to take him back to... read more We went to celebrate my Dad’s 90th birthday. Our family has Czech heritage, and my parents have been to Prague several times. I wasn’t able to take him back to the homeland for his milestone, but having him visit me in Chicago for a few days was the next best thing. Our server treated him like a rockstar. We got a free round of Becherovka shots with our apple streudel dessert, and they brought it out with a giant birthday candle and the Happy Birthday song playing. He was delighted! Our meal of traditional roast duck, sauerkraut and bread dumplings was spot-on — just like my grandmothers used to make! Thank you for a beautiful, memorable evening neither my Dad nor I will forget!

He t... read more To start, the Maître d' informed us that the reservation I made through Open Table was no longer valid since he had canceled their service over a year ago. He then proceeded to complain about Open Table being a scam. Luckily, there was a table available, but it took over 45 minutes for us to place our order, and two of their house specialties were unavailable. When our food finally arrived—well over an hour after we were seated—my dish, the sauerbraten, was dry and tasteless, making it inedible. On the other hand, my wife enjoyed her salmon, which she said was very good. They never returned to refill our water, possibly because we opted for tap water instead of the bottled water they strongly promoted. There’s more to say, but you get the gist. I recommend finding another restaurant.
