1959 Kitchen - Chicago
1959 Kitchen
Description
2nd City offers a mixed dining experience, with some customers praising the fantastic food and attentive service, particularly recommending the Lemon-Parsley Chicken and the seafood boil. Others were disappointed with the slow service, lackluster food quality, and lack of attention to detail. The location is convenient for those attending a show at Second City, but it seems that the overall dining experience can be hit or miss. Some guests were impressed by the friendly staff and delicious dishes while others left feeling let down. The consensus seems to be that the restaurant has potential but needs to improve on consistency and customer service.

My husband and I stopped by for a drink before a show at Second City. He ordered a Whiskey Sour, and I had an Aperol Spritz. My drink was good—pretty standard—but his was fantastic. The prices are reasonable, and the service was friendly. Although the place was mostly empty as showtime approached, the staff still seemed a bit rushed.
I visited the bar before a show and found the ambiance quite pleasant—it's a great spot for a date. They have board games and a good selection of drinks. Unfortunately, I didn't get to sample the food due to time constraints. However, what really annoyed me was when I ordered a whiskey on the rocks. I was charged for the whiskey and then hit with an additional fee for the ice! Who charges $2 for ice? My advice: skip the ice altogether.
We Celebrated my Husband bday and Everything was Great!!! Our waitress Courtney was Fabulous!!! 1959 owes US Nothing!
First, I will say that the wait staff was awesome. Our waitress was hilarious and helpful. My friends and I visited on Tuesday, so it taco Tuesday. We did not have tacos but has margaritas which were reminiscent of my college days. Just tequila with a margarita mix. Not what I expected. In addition, the pretzel twist was rubbery so it must have just come out the microwave. Although my meal could have been better, my friend had the barbecue cauliflower which she loved. Overall the ambience and staff where great, the food could have been better.
