HANDS DOWN the best catfish I have ever had! I ordered mine Cajun-style and it was absolutely delicious! The hushpuppies, okra, slap em sauce, and tarter sauce were also all 10/10. The slaw was very good but I prefer mine a tad sweeter... but slaw is just one of those preference things. Definitely wont hold it against them because it was still plenty edible. My only regrets are not ordering the fried green tomatoes as well and not trying this place sooner!
I ordered a 2-piece fish plate from Uncle Larry's on Brainerd over the phone. However, when I got home, I realized they had given me a shrimp plate instead. I went back to exchange it and finally received my fish plate. Unfortunately, the fish was fried too hard and I did not enjoy it at all. It was a disappointing experience and I felt like it was a waste of my money. This happened on May 26th, 2022.
Uncle Larry's is a hidden gem that is worth discovering. Despite its unassuming exterior, the food and service are excellent. I now make the drive from Alabama just to dine at this restaurant, and I am never disappointed.
