Frick's Fixin's - Chatham
Frick's Fixin's
Description
Fricks is a modest restaurant with excellent takeout fish and chips, according to reviewers. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the prices are reasonable. While it is mostly a cash-only establishment, they offer generous portions of thick fish and delicious homemade fries. They have a limited seating area for those who prefer to dine in. Despite limited seating and no washroom, customers praise the quality, value, and service at Fricks. It is considered one of Chatham's best-kept secrets for those seeking top-notch fish and chips in a casual setting.

The fish and chips at this restaurant are excellent! While it is mainly for takeout, they do have two small tables for dining in. The quality of their fish and chips is hard to come by these days.
Cash only! Short wait for soggy chips and decent but over breaded fish. Not setup to eat in, take home and eat cold. Plus $36 for 2 pieces of Halibut and chips - you do the rest.
This modest restaurant is - despite 2 x 2 top tables - really just for take out. But what great take out! $5.50 bought me a cod "snack" which was an ample dinner for one. The battered cod was excellent, but the deep golden brown chips were *heavenly*. I'll be back!
Out of the 2 fish and chip places in Chatham, Fricks' and Lil Julies, Fricks' is by far the best. The have hand cut fries and their prices are excellent. This is not a sit-in restaurant. This is a hidden greasy spoon behind a gas station with a couple of seats available to wait while your food is cooked (unless you called ahead to order). That's not a bad thing! Personally, I much prefer take-out and the family who owns the place are super nice and friendly.Unfortunately, I do have to agree with other reviewers about things getting soggy on your way home from the steam of the food and if you've had them put the vinegar directly on for you ahead of time. The flavour is still amazing, though.I've had the Boston Blue special (always too much food for me), the haddock and the halibut. For a gal who can't normally finish everything on her plate, this is no different - there's a lot of chips and the two-piece meal is generally more than enough. Though the Boston Blue 3 piece special is a great value for even more food.My husband always gets the shrimp, fish and chip special - the Fricks Special - and it's HUGE!I'm not a fan of their gravy, though - and I love gravy, generally.Downside - they're only open until 8ish (usually a little before) and not open on Sundays - though I've never found a fish and chip place that was.
First, let me explain, I'm in a wheelchair. Some people treat me like I have a disease. Some, like I'm feeble or less than human. It keeps me in almost as much as the weather! One day, I couldn't pass up the craving. I thought it was going to be an awful time. Imagine my surprise when a couple of people opened the door and stepped out so I could get in! Then I got even more of a surprise! (I have a bit of trouble with my hands so I had a bit of trouble getting my money out.) There was a lady ahead of me, she got her order and left. I went to get my order and pay. Imagine my surprise when they told me that the lady ahead of me payed for me! God bless her!So, staff and food is great and so are their customers!
