The Rix Hotel in Charters Towers has established itself as a top destination for food and drinks, winning multiple awards at the Queensland Hotel Association Awards of Excellence. In 2022, The Rix Hotel was recognized for having the Best Hotel Bar in the regional category, while its restaurant, The Beast Barrel, was awarded Best Restaurant in the region. The following year, in 2023, The Rix Hotel was honored as the Overall Regional Hotel of the Year, with both the bar and restaurant taking home top prizes for a second consecutive year. Owners Noel and Jane Jesberg expressed their pride in their team and thanked the supportive local community.

What a disaster!!! Got a taxi to drop me off only to then find out they are closed for a staff Christmas party! So no way to check in and therefor stranded as a single female in a town I don’t know anything about! Then had to organise other accommodation and transport late at night. Not the greatest experience I’ve had Service: 1

After a long day on the road, this is a great little rest stop for the night, great beds coffee and tea facilities, Red Rooter and Chinese food across the road and if you get in earlier enough a steakhouse in the pub’s restaurant. When coming through CT again we will definitely stop here again Service: 4

Great meal offering. Need to up the Steak Game and improve the red wine list. People are prepared to spend if the offering is available. Service: 5

We stopped in town on our way through , looking for a nice meal. My partner was dressed casual in shorts and long sleeved shirt. When we walked in we asked if it was possible to have a meal. A lady who came straight out of a Cruella De Ville look a like co test looked my partner up and down twice while wringing her hand and told us with the sourest face possible that no it was not possible for us to have a meal there. So incredibly rude and up themselves. Red rooster saved the day. Much better atmosphere and smiley faces at least.

We just came for lunch, just amazing. The steak was sooo yummy. 3 of us ordered steak and they were all cooked perfectly. One of out party had chicken and it was also amazing. We ordered dessert and again they were stop.out!!!! This is a must do when in Charters Towers. Service: 5
