I really looked forward to coming to this place but the food was quite disappointing. One star is given to our server who was quite attentive and friendly. One star for the free chips and salsa. The rest of my foods were pretty disastrous. We got thewings for appetizer and the dry rubs on the wings were completely burnt. They looked burnt and they taste burnt. One of thesauces that came with it is basically cream, that has no taste in it. The other one is pretty strong which really helped mebalance the burnt taste on the wings. And this sauce is actually the only other decent thing. It’s also $16 for 10 pieces ofwings. I’ve really not paid that much, even with inflation, for 10 pieces of burnt chicken wings. I ordered the trout for myentree. I did get a pretty big portion of fish. But everything on that plate was terrible. Most of the grilled vegetables arebadly burnt. I’ll say most restaurants would at least scrub off the badly burnt parts but they didn’t. The red chimichurriwas pure salt. It doesn’t have any other taste but salty. The seasoning on the fish is also basically just salt. The salsa wasprobably one of the worst salsa I’ve had—it tasted like burnt peppers and salt. I’m always a clean-plate kind of customerbut I ended up leaving all the sauce and most of the grilled vegetables on the plate. This plate is also a ridiculous$28. I’ve seen all the “salty” responses the owner gave to other reviewers. But before being rude to your customers maybeactually look at whether the food you serve is edible.
Atmosphere 5/5 Service 5/5 Value 3/5 Food 1/5 Salt levels are off the charts on every single dish (except for the complementary salsa). Great place to hang out, great place for mezcal/tequila, but the kitchen has some work to do. Completelyseparate note: not going to lie, the super spicy review responses from the owner were hilarious and were honestly part of myreason for coming in
Everything here is delicious—you can’t go wrong. Amazing margaritas, and if you have a chance to try anything with mushrooms (the veggie nachos, tacos, etc. do it—they’re so crispy and flavorful! We had the nachos (to die for and I had the lambBirria tacos — absolutely incredible. Will absolutely be back.
We stopped here at the beginning of our downtown Charlottesville wanderings because I hadn't eaten anything yet for the day. They have a great outdoor seating area that is pet friendly. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating (and patientwith one of my surly teenagers! . The margarita was spot on and I could actually taste the tequila, which is few and farbetween. They had Yuca Fritas, which I have been hard pressed to find on the east coast. They were not only delicious, but theserving size was HUGE for the price point. My son LOVED his tacos and had plenty of leftovers to bring back to the hotel forlater. Overall, we couldn't have been happier with this dining experience and the service. I would highly recommend if you'reever in the area.
Music was awesome. Service was slow and uncoordinated- three of us had our dinner, but the fourth got his about 10 minutes later. We had asked for an open four-top closer to the music and were told it was specifically reserved for someone. In the almost 2 hours we were there it stayed vacant. Food was solid. I guess you take the good with the bad.
