I did this. I wish there was one near me. You were so nice. It was delicious food, they didn't take long to make the food. They had polystyrene containers and soup containers, and the entire vibe was so cozy. I got the Kichi-Udon and it was so good. Then I've got pan noodles. The chicken was dry, which was sad, but then I got tteokbokki and it was delicious. It was such a good meal for a cold day View all feedback.
What Jiahong Cheng doesn't like about Spoon House Korean Kitchen:
The waiters here are crazy and will slam the door like crazy when you are using the bathroom, trying to kick you out. There is no courtesy to the customers, the front desk is arrogant, and after giving a rational response to the waiter's rude behavior, the front desk has no apology attitude. I really think the staff here needs some professional training, and if you don't want to be so angry to cause you feel disguste... View all feedback.
A little loud, and service can be slow at times, but food comes out quickly and is always hot. I think there a better places on campus to get Korean with similarly reasonable prices. I got the bugolgi fried rice which was standard, pretty plain, but satisfying with a fried egg on top. I'd probably recommend their kimchi jiggae more.
I don’t understand why this restaurant doesn’t have a higher rating. The food was fantastic, and the portions were generous! I ordered the 순두부 찌개 (soft tofu soup with beef), while my friend had the 떡 만두국 (beef soup with rice cakes and dumplings). My soup had just the right amount of spice and was served piping hot, just as it should be. My friend also enjoyed her soup, noting that the rice cakes were perfectly cooked. It was the ideal meal to warm us up on a chilly, rainy day. The atmosphere was lovely, and I thought the Lego sets displayed around the restaurant were really cool. I’m thrilled to have finally found a Korean restaurant on campus that isn’t overly Americanized. I will definitely be coming back!
I really enjoyed this place! I was brought here by some friends from UIUC, and I was pleasantly surprised by the abundance of flavor and the large portion sizes. I especially loved the bulgogi fried rice and the glass beef noodles. I highly recommend it!
The waitstaff at this restaurant behave quite unprofessionally—they slam the bathroom door as if trying to rush you out. There’s a complete lack of courtesy towards customers, and the front desk staff comes off as rude. When I addressed the waiter's inappropriate behavior, the front desk showed no willingness to apologize. I believe the staff could benefit from some professional training. If you want to avoid leaving this place feeling frustrated and disgusted, I recommend steering clear of this restaurant. Oh, and next time, you might want to call 911 if they slam the door again!
This place is a gem in campus. Not one of the most well known restaurants, but easily holds its own when comparing cost and flavor. The spicy Korean fried chicken here is the best I’ve had in Champaign. Prices seem to be going up and portion sizes seem to be going down unfortunately.
