**Dining at Centralia House: A Culinary Journey Through Time**

Centralia House offers an enchanting dining experience steeped in history and charm. Guests are greeted by attentive service and the melodic tunes of a live pianist, enhancing the welcoming atmosphere. While steak lovers rave about the quality and preparation of their meals, some Cajun and Creole options have left diners wanting more, particularly in terms of seasoning. Nevertheless, standout dishes like calamari and shrimp have garnered praise. With its beautiful antique decor and a rich culinary tradition, Centralia House remains a beloved destination for both locals and travelers seeking memorable dining experiences. Reservations are highly recommended.

The restaurant has an old-world charm with its beautiful antique decor. The food is excellent, and the service is fantastic. There was also a pianist playing while we dined, which added to the lovely atmosphere. I highly recommend this place!

I took the Amtrak up with a large group, and we had a fantastic experience. Our waitress did an excellent job serving us, and the atmosphere was wonderful. The piano player added to the enjoyment of our visit. Overall, it's definitely a place where we would come back. Thank you for the great experience!

We absolutely adore the Centralia House! Their steaks are among the finest in Southern Illinois. Jim Kirchoff playing the piano is always a delightful experience! For a unique twist, consider taking the train from Carbondale or other nearby towns. Enjoy an evening filled with delicious food, lovely music, and a touch of history!

What they did well, they did very well! The rest? Well...?I 'll begin by saying that the wait staff was prompt, courteous, and attentive. The piano player was entertaining. The setting, almost historically perfect. The food, however, was a mixed bag certainly not what I expected for the prices charged. While the bread and butter was excellent, the salads were under dressed. While the folks in our party who had steaks seemed happy, the Cajun/Creole dishes were deeply disappointing. First, I didn 't understand what they were doing on a fine dining menu, they just didn 't fit. But I gave it a shot and my Shrimp Creole lacked seasoning of any sort I had to ask for Frank 's Red Hot Sauce just to add some flavor (the bottle was mostly empty and had that red crust around the top better to season the food in the first place! . Now, I don 't like my food excessively spicy, but a little something, please?Maybe it was an off night for the kitchen staff, but I 'm thinking it is time to hire a new chef and revamp the menu and please, when a large group (we were 15 total makes reservations , please work a little harder at seating everyone together!

I really enjoy Centralia House shrimp. The food is good. The atmosphere is great. I enjoy the gentleman playing the piano.
