The restaurant was completely reserved for the evening, but we were allowed to eat before another group was supposed to come in. The food was very good. The service was good too. I'd definitely eat here again.

It... read more As we were staying in one of the apartments above the Brauner Hirsch, we went there at the recommendation of the apartments ' owner, and we 're glad we did! It was nice to have some honest, authentic German cuisine on our first night in Germany, in...a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We had herring in 'Schmand ' sauce (a thick cream sauce with apple which went very well with the herring) and Schnitzel with Bratkartoffeln. The portions were very generous. Don 't expect anything fancy, but if you like honest German food the Brauner Hirsch is definitely a great option, also if you aren 't staying in one of the holiday apartments above.

We liked what we saw, so we booked a table for Saturday night. I'm glad we... hesitated when we arrived at 6:30. We ordered a steak and a goulash both were very good and excellent value for money. Genuine full-fledged German foods reasonable selection of wine, although they had run out of the Grauburgunder, we tried the Riesling, which was good. Finally, I guess that the bartender and the front of the housewife are probably the owners they are the hardest working couple I have seen in a long time! Between the two, they managed to take care of 30 customers without delay!!! If we're ever back in Celle, we'd definitely eat again.
