We stopped here for lunch. This was a very nice restaurant. You could either sit outside or in. We chose to sit inside to cool off on a hot day. I ordered the fish and chips which I would definitely recommend. They weren't overly greasy like others. The tartar sauce was to die for! Homemade! Quite reasonably priced and if you order the fish and chips a percent went to a charity. Decor was very nice and nicest bathroom I've seen.
This was such an incredible experience! We found it by accident, being in the Canning area and randomly searching online for restaurants that would have gluten-free options. It turns out their entire restaurant is gluten free (except for beer). We ordered 7 dishes among the group and everything tasted and looked just amazing. There was not a single dish among us that didn't taste satisfying and original. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat. Being gluten-free, they actually make their own bread products which taste just amazing. They're also able to make most things dairy-free. After we left, I got to thinking that the decor could use an artist's touch. It feels a little contrived, which is so unlike the food. Being in a small town in the countryside serving amazing food arguably makes room for more original, rustic decor. Doesn't at all change my opinion of the place overall, though.
Goodwife Edna and I were up to old haunts - the childhood sights 50 years later...Perreaux, Sheffield Mills - the old house of her forefathers. Beautiful day - let's eat near Canning. A friend told me if you look carefully there is a new addition to the restaurant scene...well a year old. We missed it on the way into town....very easy to do - unless you think green....on the right painted green. The business sign is there but - not a flag...although they have that too but it was rolled up on itself! We went in - greeted immediately - "inside, or the deck? We chose the deck - which started with stairs - lots of stairs. The reno had been very well done to this building - everything looked great about it. At the top we walked out on a deck - high up when looking at the nearby weeping willows. A distraction throughout our visit was a foundation being filled in right next door by a huge excavator. It didn't run all the time and we put it out of our minds and concentrated on the food. My wife opted for the Lamb and Chickpea - beautiful - and delicious. I ordered the fish and chips - and based on my experience elsewhere ordered a second piece of fish. NO NEED: THE SERVING OF ONE WAS VERY GOOD. Wow - huge - beautifully cooked fish - the chips spiced - and I asked for and received malt vinegar - the Newfoundlander in me - great meal. The house wine: a Beaujolais perfect, even with fish! The service - impeccable, the deck - lovely ! The food - tasty, rib sticking - but not flashy, good plating. The bill - very good value for the product. The experience - enough to say - now that we have found this gem - it 'is' our top choice for the eastern end of the Valley. Inside or out I would recommend a visit....Family operated and located on a strip of properties being developed for the nearby Wolfville shopping folk. This whole area is going through a Renaissance right now. For us it will be as it was - a fine destination on a lovely sightseeing, memory laden day.
Stopped by after our hike to Cape Split, had a wonderful lunch with great food and service. Remember to ask about their rooftop patio!
My wife and I were celebrating and decided to visit a local restaurant for a mid day meal. We were two of six customers and were served by one of two people on duty. The service was attentive but not overbearing. We shared an appetizer of Beer and Bacon Mussels. Followed by fancy “mac and cheese” with bacon, peppers and other interesting bits and the “Blow Your Hat Off Burger” with fries. We shared back and forth and both of us were impressed with the flavour and presentation. We asked for a dessert recommendation and had an Apple Crisp and Red Velvet Cake. The apples in the crisp were a bit firm (taste was great.) The cake was over the moon, presentation, portion and taste all top marks. Overall a wonderful experience. I was happy to tell the chef of our delight in for our first visit.
