I just want to say thank you to the friendly staff and chefs that make the delicious food, every visit to Big Wigs is always unforgettable. The food has never disappointed me and the employees always go out of there way to make sure I enjoy my time their. My last visit I enjoyed a Chicken Ceaser wrap that wasn't on the menu, but the chef was able to adjust to my choice of preference. I highly recommend stopping bye t... View all feedback.
What Yeray Alonso doesn't like about Big Wigs Family Diner:
Not sure what happened to this place but the new chef they have had ZERO experience and is a horrible cook. In sorry Nancy my wife and I have been dealing with the meat market for years and I must say this new cook you have is ruining the amazing reputation that the previous chef built for you. Originally called Al's Fireside Cafe, only the name has changed, the food is great and so is the service..Have been there for breakfasts and lunch and have not been disappointed. The kept the delicious pies that were originally at Al's place.
We stopped here for a fast breakfast for a group of 8 people. Despite the restaurant being practically full on the Sunday morning, we still got a table and were served in good time. The food was tasty and satisfying. No issues or complaints. There were lots of options on the menu so we were all able to find something that suited us well. I was especially impressed when they said they did, in fact, have decaf coffee they were able to make with fresh-ground beans since they use and sell fresh-roasted coffee beans (is it Just Us coffee they use?). From the outside, I was expecting a bit of a regular diner, but it was definitely a few steps beyond. No wonder half the town was there for Sunday breakfast!
All the food was fresh and made there. One friend had the fish and chips. A very large seeing and absolutely delicious. My breakfast sandwich was freshly made and great. We also had a home made skor cake. Very very tasty. Happy to recommend to anyone visiting Canning. And the staff was incredibly nice.
It is a diner. Diner style of food, club sandwiches etc. It's not fine style dining but very comfortable and the food quality is great!
In the Wolfville area for a couple days and decided to take a trip to Canning to go to their well known meat market. Since it was lunch time we decided to eat at a small diner called Big Wigs. I understand this restaurant was recently opened after a previous owner closed a year ago. What a nice discovery for us. The diner may look small and simple but they make up for it with service and food. We were told a new menu was being printed so we read the menu from a chalk board. I had the burger platter ($13) and my wife had a chicken salad sandwich ($7). My burger was a fresh home made patty like you get at "Boom Burger". It was great and filling which meant the fries got left behind. My wife enjoyed her fresh sandwich. While there we could see one couple get the two piece fish and chips. Word to the wise, one piece may be enough because these two pieces were very large. We could also see their turkey soup was home made with real fresh turkey. The restaurant may be small but it is very clean and while there, we observed our server interact with customers with such class it was impressive. This young girl greeted guests and waited on tables with such a great friendly demeanour. Visiting this gem is worth the ride to Canning.
