Cannes, even Cannes la Boca, in July and August is swarming with tourists and most restaurants bump the prices up. This fellow next to the super market is filled with locals good sign. Simple interior hides a bit of genius. The food is better than the best Manhattan or Boston five star restaurants (where I have lived for the past 30 years) maybe a slight exaggeration but not much. Several types of pizza the French know how to make pizza. New York being famous for such, and we have great ingredients and beautiful looks, but too thick, crust usually wrong and, well, once you have tasted pizza here you understand what I am saying. Salade Nicoise among the best I've had in Cannes or Nice and they have a special of the day Mixed grill today, lamb, pork and chicken 10 euros. Did I mention you can get a carafe of house wine rose is what I chose for about 7 euro a local rose and plain wonderful. Too many superlatives in this review, but I dream of this simple restaurant when I am back in the USA. In a different time maybe one would consider this like the town bistro surrounded by the working people in the non touristy side Cannes la Boca and for me, when I wish to relax and get away from cacophony life does not get much better than this.
This station is a lot smaller than the Marseille station and there are not as many food options but it is still maintained regularly.
On return trip back to Villefranche-sur-Mer, one of the track that we suppose to be on was not listed anywhere no signs anywhere.
What a horrible train station, considering it is the busiest in the French Riviera! There are about 5 or 6 ticket machines outside and the instructions are
We stumbled on le Brooklyn by coincidence at lunch time. Turns out this mainly locals hang out is a gem. Food was delicious, prices were excellent and service was super friendly. I had the special fish of the day and the chef happily accommodated my vegan husband. We drove back from Nice a few nights later and how fun! Friday and Saturday nights are usually Karaoke and customers young and old sing in French and english with some talent and lots of good laughs. We sat on the terrace both times and though there is a whole menu, I ordered from the house specials on both occasions. Delish! Would have paid at least double in Austin for a not so tasty food. Wine by the carafe is yummy and we were welcomed the second time like life long clients ! Easy, free parking which is a threat by itself. Worth the short drive from the beach and continue on to the Fernand Leger Museum in Biot
