Description

Tapas restaurant offers excellent food, although some reviewers found the portions to be small or the menu changes disappointing. However, others praised the seasonal offerings and tasting menu. The staff is praised for being attentive and knowledgeable, making dining here an event rather than just a meal. The foraged and locally sourced ingredients, as well as creative cocktails, showcase the chef's passion. While some felt the prices were high for the portion sizes, others appreciated the opportunity to share and experience a variety of dishes. Overall, the unique dining experience and delicious flavors make Tapas a standout spot in Canmore.

Terrible service! Drove from Calgary to try this place and refused service because the kitchen was backed up? 8:45, half full restaurant and turning away clients, only in Canmore....

Swindled is the word to describe going to this restaurant. I would give zero stars as being one of my worst restaurant experiences. We were seated and quickly asked to order not realising that we had to find the menu online. Due to the rushing of the server, we asked if there was a time limit and we were told there was not another seating. The server pushed us to take the Tasting Menu that gave 8 courses and cost each person $65. We asked what each dish was, but apparently the menu is a surprise for their clients. Indeed it was. Sure wish I had said I was vegetarian!! The first dish was a small plate of bread with the tiniest bowl of homemade potato chips (tasted like they had opened a bag of Kettle chips). Next came a half of a raw scallop (seriously) sliced paper thin doused in some kind of sauce that apparently you share!! It was followed by a tablespoon size serving of raw venison and two tiny 2 oz bottles of Kombucha tea, then followed up by two pieces of raw Yak (bison). Did I mention we are vegetarians? Then finally something I could eat....some cold pasta in a non-descriptive tomato paste followed by a thin slice of eggplant with a few tomatoes and apple slices. Lastly came the dessert, a small tart with a crust so hard you needed a steak knife to chop through. Also the power went out at the second serving and we were asked to pay the full amount right then. Even though at the beginning they said they had no other seatings, we were not even 10 minutes finished chopping through the dessert and we were asked to get out so someone else could sit. That was the first and last time I will go and I will warn others to stay away unless of course they like being swindled. Final three words: Do not go!!!

This lovely little restaurant was recommended to me by a couple of friends and you better believe I will keep spreading the news. If you’re looking for some delectable food, and some serious GAS (good Sangria), then this is the place for you. It was very quaint, and a perfect place for a hot date when you’re hoping to get lucky. They had a dish with some sliced mushrooms and some gravy over top of garlic bread.. it was tremendous! Overall, a great night. I Tapas!

WOW. We went here by chance, but what a gem! We did the five course fixed price menu two had the vegetarion (gatherer) option, and three had the meat (hunter) option. Each was absolutely fanatstic. We did not do the wine pairing. The Bench 1775 Sauvignon blanc (BC) complmented the dinner beautifully. Eaxh coutse was wonderfully presented, and the tastes were stupendous. The portions wwre small, but we all agreed we were totally full at the end. We will definitely return!

The fact that this place doesn’t have a Michelin star is an abomination. Everything from start to finish was incredible. The detail the chef puts into her food is kk blowing. You will taste flavours you’ve never eaten (pine ash? Bee pollen? . You can really taste the passion for foraging and locally, sustainable food from the chef. Not to mention the service is impeccable, so attentive, so personal. And the cocktails (that have spruce syrup instead of lime because lime isn’t local…come on! are fantastic. It’s only a matter of time before some celebrity food personality finds this place and tweets about it and it explodes, so go here now while it’s still possible to get a table.
