Blu Ginger offers a unique dining experience with a pleasant industrial decor and spacious layout that sets it apart from typical Indian restaurants. The service, while a bit sparse, was friendly and efficient. The Multani Chicken and Lamb Rogan Josh were flavorful but milder than expected, with self-restraint in the use of spices. The butter naan was cooked to perfection. While the food and service were commendable, the state of the bathroom was a disappointing aspect of the visit. Overall, Blu Ginger provides slightly above-average Indian cuisine at slightly above-average prices in Civic. The restaurant caters well to vegetarians and offers delicious fusion dishes. It is a great place for friends to enjoy a meal together. Authentic Indian flavors shine through in dishes like black dal, onion bhajjis, and veg snacks platter. The staff is welcoming and attentive, providing a delightful dining experience. Guests can expect large portions of succulent, flavorful dishes at reasonable prices. A must-visit for those who appreciate authentic Indian cuisine without added sugar.
I have been to BluGinger in Canberra many times and I can say that it is The best Indian restaurant in Canberra. They can never go wrong!!!!!!Multani chicken and Goat curry are my favorites.....
Liturally the BEST Indian restaurant in Canberra! The food is always amazing, the service is always slow however the food is worth the wait and casual pace of the staff. I wouldn't recommend going if you are in a rush! The restaurant is also extremely loud, however if you are wanting a really amazing Indian you can not go wrong, i wish there was a restaurant in Gungahlin!
Thank you Blue ginger for your best service on our special day! Everyone loved your foods!! Best food in the town
Excellent food, great range on the menu, lovely staff. Will definitely return on our next Canberra trip
EDIT: the owner of Blu Ginger reached out to me after reading my below review and asked me to come in for a conversation. He encouraged me to stay for dinner, and he explained to me the issue surrounding the delay in the food order which came down to technology error. The staff were all very apologetic and I received great service. It was a very nice night. Absolute worst birthday dinner I 've ever had. I had booked a table a week in advance and confirmed the booking on the day of. So they knew to expect a large group. Arrived at 6pm and ordered food and drinks at 6.15pm. There were 18 people on the table including children, hence the early dinner. Half the table ordered a banquet and the rest ordered from the menu. Our entrees came out at 7.50pm, and we didn 't get our mains until.8.30pm. The staff were not attentive, taking an average of 20 minutes to deliver drinks, including water for the table. Everyone around us had eaten and left while we were still waiting for our entrees. I approached the manager about this and told him there were kids, who were starving and needed to go to bed soon. The manager then told me that it was difficult for the kitchen to keep up with our order because we ordered banquet and from the menu no apology, no offer for extra appetizers or drinks, no sympathy. After we had finished, they charged us double on the bill (it amounted to $1400) and took them 30 minutes to fix their calculations. Other than the appalling service, the food was dry and well overcooked, everything was over spiced, and everyone left feeling sick. I 've been here before and had a pleasant experience, but I won 't ever be returning.
