Preston Chipwagon - Cambridge
Preston Chipwagon
Description
A local chip wagon offers a mixed dining experience. One reviewer praises the delicious haddock and exceptional fries, while another finds disappointment in soggy fries and disappointing side dishes. The restaurant, known for its fries and poutine, recently changed ownership, leading to mixed reviews. While some appreciate the generous portions and friendly service, others were let down by overcooked burgers and lackluster meals. The unique establishment offers delicious fries, excellent onion rings, and high-quality ice cream. Despite accessibility concerns and ownership changes, the Chip Wagon continues to attract both loyal customers and those seeking a tasty fish sandwich.
Feedback
I was pleased with the quality of the fish we got. The fries were fresh cut and the gravy was good, great food
I tried the lunch special which included one piece of Cod and fries for $5.00. The portion size was very generous. There was only one person working, who took on the roles of cook, cashier, order taker, and waitress. The fries were decent but the fish batter was not fully cooked in the middle. However, it still tasted good after removing the raw part. The service was friendly. While I wouldn't make a special trip to dine there, I would consider returning if I am in the area.
My girlfriend and I visited the chip wagon last night, as I already knew how good it was from a previous visit, and once again, it did not disappoint. The haddock was cooked perfectly and the fries were exceptional! I cannot express enough how delicious they were. Even though takeout fries can sometimes get soggy in the container, they were still excellent since I only live 100 meters away. We also tried the breaded shrimp, which was heavenly, and the coleslaw that came with the fish was just right. We will definitely be returning to eat here again!
The restaurant entrance has three large concrete steps and two doors, making it inaccessible for wheelchairs or walkers. It is a small dine-in or mostly take-out diner. Inside, there is a table with condiments, plastic cutlery, and napkins. The food is delicious, with the fries being especially notable as the best in town. They offer delivery service outside for customers in wheelchairs who call ahead. The restaurant also serves excellent onion rings, fish and chips, and high-quality hard scoop ice cream.
