What Anonym dislikes about Source:
The food here, similar to other medium-fine-dining in Boston, leaves much to desire. The waiting staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, but the food itself was lacking in creativity, execution, and was oversalted. View all feedback.
**Pros:** The restaurant's ambiance is adorable and cozy. Although it was busy, the staff was attentive, and it was clear they worked well as a team. One of our starters arrived late, but management kindly comped it, which we appreciated. The drinks were fantastic—our favorites included the house-shot, espresso martini, and ginger pigeon. The Parfait was definitely a highlight; it was both shareable and delicious! **Cons:** Unfortunately, the pizza was quite greasy and fell apart easily. While we had seen the greasy appearance in online photos, we initially hoped that some of it might have been hot honey added to the dish or that it was simply an anomaly. In reality, although the dough was tasty, it was difficult to eat due to everything sliding off, and we found it lacked sufficient cheese, rendering it quite forgettable. The Bucatini Carbonara was just okay as well. One of the cheeses was overwhelmingly strong, overpowering the pasta, and while this might align with traditional Carbonara, the consensus at our table was that the flavor was too intense, with not enough guanciale to balance it out. Lastly, the Caesar Salad could have benefited from more lettuce. While I understand there may be a standard portion, the table next to us ordered their Caesar without the pizza dough bowl and appeared to have a significantly larger salad portion compared to ours.
This is a great store, and I really appreciate that they sell beer and wine—that's how a grocery store should be! However, my biggest issue, to the point that it frustrates me, is their limited selection of Iggy's Bakery bagels. They only offer two types because they claim to bake their own, but the bagels made in-store at Whole Foods are just terrible. They did something similar with Nashoba Brook Bakery by not offering their whole wheat bread, all because they want to limit competition for their own products, which are also subpar. If it weren't for these monopolistic practices, this would be an outstanding store!
Highly recommend the Brussels Sprouts to share. Great atmosphere! Reservation usually needed.
Have enjoyed this place in the past but less impressed last night. Orders missed, burger Super salty. Slow and disorganized service. Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4
The Source Restaurant is a western cuisine restaurant located in the heart of Harvard Square serving a wide range of dishes, but specializing in Neapolitan pizza. The ambiance is lit dimly, perfect for more intimate dinners such as date nights or celebrations. Highly recommend reservations, especially on the weekend. The service was great. The staff came over, answered any questions about the menu as well as presenting the food quickly and on time. We got a build your own pizza, which contained hot honey, pepperoni, and cheese. We also got a mocktail (guava no jito) as well as a salad. The salad was made well, with a light drizzle of dressing on it that didn't overwhelm the salad. The rest of the ingredients on the salad also worked well together with it. The mocktail was sweet, not too sour but blended well the flavors together. The pizza was a highlight. A bit smaller than we expected, but had a great flavor and cooked perfectly. One downside was that the cheese/toppings fell off a bit too easily on the pizza, making it hard to eat by just picking up. Price per person: $20–30 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
