Summary: The food was good, but not the best in town . My experience at Vedanta was based around its listing as the #6 best restaurant in Cambridge on Tripadvisor. It is not that. We shared a few different dishes starters dosas were tasty and well plated, and the mains were interesting enough, although a little less flavoursome. Staff were attentive and friendly, though they missed part of the order. The venue is a v... View all feedback.
Excellent. we stopped here for lunch when we went from the city center of cambridge to the train station. flavors were excellent. service was very good. very quiet Friday afternoon between academics. I would have liked to try to eat. Oh, well, next visit.
This is a fantastic little Indian place on regent st. the location is very close to most other sights in cambridge. the interieur relatiw is quite inconspicuous, while the interieur relatiw is cozy with a separate atmosphere. I went on a Sunday night and it was moderately busy. but I was alone and could sit very quickly. my server visited me immediately and made a very good job that took care of me. the menu offered several favorites. I chose the chicken dopiaza as main accompanied by punjabi chole and peshwari naan. it was all excellent. the contrast between the sweet taste of the naans and the flavors of the curry proved to be very good combination. my last bill with everything included (drink, eat and control) was £23.95 that was at the time just under 32 usd. I was very happy with this. next time I'll see a visit to cambridge.
I came to lunch for vedanta, sought authentic Indian food and left completely satisfied. the restaurant is not very large, but was full of customers when I arrived. the service was impeccable and attentive, without being overlaid. the mysore dosa I was perfectly cooked and every sauce (shot) was full of taste. the masala chai was also spot-on! highly recommended.
Friends of mine have traveled over eating in vedanta. Finally, I had the opportunity to taste the food they had done so much. the place itself was tiny and with two large groups (each with 10 people) made the place very clogged. the food was a good and a little spicy (for me), but the portion size of the appetizers was tiny. it was almost the portion size of a tapas. each main dish was good, except the dosa (indian version of a crepe/pancake) that was not properly cooked and the teig felt as if he had not properly fermented. also the coconut cutney that accompanied the dosa was not well prepared. maybe it was just a bad day for dosas. definitiw a place where I eat again and would recommend to others.
Craziest thing happened walked in for a late bite 30 minutes prior to closing. This wacky waiter actually directed us to the place next door which remained open later. Thanks, we'll have the chicken tika. Unless I also owned the joint next door I wouldn't have been thrilled. Maybe he's the owner?! That being said, the food was GREAT. The chicken tika was moist and flavorful. The vegetarian biryani was hot and tasty with a wonderful crust. The service was PROMPT AND FRIENDLY, save the initial Grinch moment. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND for a quick bite of Indian in Cambridge.
