Food acceptable if uninspiring, service good but restaurant completely lacked atmosphere on a Friday Lunch time with only 4 or 5 diners.

Have enjoyed several meals at The Chequers, last one being their 'Japanese ' evening. Never tried a sushi dish before......excellent! Both my husband and I enjoyed the rest of our Japanese meal. Service was very good, food was hot. Very friendly and welcoming. Jenny.

We eat here regularly. The service is always friendly and the food varies and is lovely. I had pheasant on this occasion and it was exquisite.

My wife and I booked the Chequers for her birthday celebration, because it is reasonably local to where we live, dog friendly and the reviews were excellent. We were not disappointed. A lovely evening with lovely staff who were friendly and attentive. The food we ordered was of a high standard, beautifully presented.

Food at The Chequers is always sublime we all had three courses and every dish looked and tasted amazing. Service was friendly and effecient and the tables are spaced far enough apart to not feel cramped but still enable us to appreciate the warm atmosphere. Particular hats off to the chef though we are very lucky to have such a talented individual working so locally. Not the cheapest of 'pub ' meals but you get what you pay for and it really is worth every penny.
