The food and detail is exceptional. As good as Gidleigh Park which is or was a 2 Michelin star restaurant but way more informal and relaxing. Took my mum here today for Mothering Sunday once again it was fab!

First of all Gail is the consummate host, relaxed but always attentiv... read more Pauline took me to Langman's last night for my 73rd birthday treat. What a lovely evening! First of all Gail is the consummate host, relaxed but always attentive to her diners' needs, with a phenomenal memory for occasions past. All the many courses on her taster menu were beautifully presented, and nicely balanced. Take a simple piece of fish, brill for example. How does Anton manage to get so many different tastes and colours onto one plate, even adding tiny pieces of crunchy surprise behind miniature beetroot leaves? I do have to say, however, that any diner who has experienced Anton's fillet steak evenly pink and succulent right the way through, moistened in a carefully seasoned red wine sauce will find it hard to look anyone else's steak in the eye without a stab of longing for Langman's. Both of us look forward to lots more birthday dinners at this charming restaurant, and even when it is no one's birthday...

Gail is a very welcoming and very astute and personable lady. Anton is the only person whose fish dishes have actually swayed me to eat fish. A first class dining experience from the welcome to the goodbye. Highly recommended. What an evening of fine dining and amazing partnership of Gail and Anton. Thanks to you both for another fabulous evening.
