My wife and I absolutely adore this restaurant! We visit once a week and believe it deserves all 5 stars!
After reading the high ratings and a recommendation from a colleague, I was looking forward to trying this place.First of all, the place is very old and dark. If it wasn't for the Cherry blossom tree, the dark tables and floor coupled with poor lighting doesn't make the place feel like a ramen shop. I ordered the Tantanmen. The chashu was nice and big, tender and tasty, but the broth was just spicy and had no depth. My wife had the Tonkatsu. the pork was tender, but rather thin and the sides a bit skimpy.
We visited for lunch time, they have ramen, rice bowls and Japanese katsu set etc. we tried gyoza, Tantan men and shrimp rice bowl. The ramen was really good, a little spicy and savory, very flavorful broth with thin noodle. The noodle did not get toosoft or soggy even though it was thin noodle, and the potion size was perfect! Their cha shiu was think and a bit charred formore flavor. The raw shrimp don was also really good, it came with 5 large shrimps, they removed heads and served with bitesized tails, which I liked because head has more flavor. The don came with miso soup. All the lunch menu was priced reasonably, they gave us an ice cream for dessert, I?m happy with their service! we will definitely visit again.
We had the Chili Gomo, Tantanmen, and a side of gyoza. Both were very flavourful. The Tantanmen was quite spicy and both were served steaming hot. The portions of noodle is quite large but only a single slice of meat and overall a very good value for theprice. There was an option to have the gyoza pan fried or deep fried. We went with pan fried and they were decent. The lunchwas finished off with a scoop of strawberry ice cream which was a perfect contrast to the spicy ramen. Parking in back is verylimited with all of the other busineses in the area.
