I was excited when I found out the Noodle Bus was nearby and could forego my usual lunch selections. My Pork Vermicelli with Springrolls didn't take long at all before it was ready. It was odd as it was cold, not just cool but cold. The pork was bland and scarce. I was happy the springroll/s were warm and crispy which I like. Great Vietnamese food from a food truck! We tried Noodle Bus during Comic Expo and haven’t been disappointed. Their lemongrass chicken vermicelli is a favorite of ours.
I was excited to discover that Noodle Bus was nearby, giving me a break from my usual lunch spots. My Pork Vermicelli with Springrolls arrived quickly, but was surprisingly cold—not just cool, but actually cold. The pork was bland and sparse, though I appreciated that the springrolls were warm and crispy, which I enjoyed. What disappointed me most was that I could get the exact same dish at a Vietnamese restaurant for the same price, but with much better quality. This is supposed to be street food, yet it felt like the food trucks in Calgary have lost their way. Typically, street food should be quick, fresh, tasty, and affordable—this just didn’t meet those expectations.
The Vietnamese food at Noodle Bus is decent, with reasonable prices and fair portions served quickly. However, compared to dining at a Vietnamese restaurant, I would prefer the restaurant over this food truck.
