Reviews - Globefish Marda Loop
Reviews summary
Globe Fish in Calgary offers a mixed bag of experiences according to recent reviews. Some customers were disappointed with missing items in their pickup orders, slow service, and lack of attention to detail. On the other hand, others were blown away by the fresh, imaginative sushi dishes and excellent service. The restaurant offers unique menu items like ghostbuster rolls and provides good quality, reasonably priced food. Overall, Globefish seems to have some room for improvement in certain areas, but has the potential to be a top contender in Calgary's sushi scene.

I thoroughly enjoyed dining in at Globefish. The place is comfortable, clean, and welcoming. The servers are fantastic. I was also presented with a number of options for gluten free sushi (celiac) and gf soya sauce. My favourite dish was the mango roll(modified with real crab so it could be gf) and the spicy Salmon roll. Price is pretty competitive. Parking is the area can be abit of a challenge, but there are spots out front, behind the store, and on the street.
Delicious and authentic Japanese sushi house in Marsha Loop. This place is a must try for any sushi fan. Prices are reasonable and portions are fair sized. Top quality ingredients are always used and a great variety to choose from. The beef teriyaki isawesome. Love the Californian rolls and tuna anything. Overall great place for some sushi and soju.
Ordered takeout on doordash, completely disappointed. Sushi rolls were a mess, soy sauce was just dumped in the roll boxes, covered in sauce. Rolls falling apart. Won't be ordering again for this type of quality for the price.
As the name suggests, we expected a broader variety of izakaya dishes, but we were taken aback by the limited choices offered. That said, we really enjoyed the Toro, Hamachi, and Saba sushi. Would we come back? It's hard to say... probably not, as it felt quite pricey. The quality was indeed excellent, but it seemed a bit on the expensive side.
I had a wonderful experience dining at Globefish. The atmosphere is cozy, clean, and inviting. The staff is exceptional. I appreciated having various gluten-free sushi options (for celiac) as well as gluten-free soy sauce. My favorite dishes were the mango roll (which I customized with real crab to make it gluten-free) and the spicy salmon roll. The prices are quite competitive. While parking in the area can be a bit tricky, there are spaces available in front, behind the restaurant, and along the street.

We waited seven minutes at the front before being seated. No water was brought to our table. We ordered edamame dumplings, but the sashimi special arrived before them, and even before the green tea.
I'm puzzled as to why Globefish has a rating of only 3.5 stars. While I can see that sushi in Calgary might not always be exceptional, I genuinely think that Globefish ranks among the best sushi restaurants in the region. Their menu is creative, and they consistently provide high-quality dishes.

The sushi is fresh, and the tapas dishes are delicious, all set in a very comfortable atmosphere. I highly recommend visiting this place while you're in Calgary!
The food here is outstanding! You won't be disappointed by either the variety or the quality. Don't let the 'hole-in-the-wall' ambiance deter you. The sushi and rolls coming from the kitchen are fantastic!
If you're a sushi lover, you can't miss this delightful and authentic Japanese sushi restaurant in Marsha Loop. The prices are reasonable, and the portion sizes are generous. They always use top-quality ingredients, offering a fantastic variety of options. The beef teriyaki is outstanding, and I’m a big fan of the California rolls and anything with tuna. Overall, this is a fantastic spot for sushi and soju!
As the name implies, we anticipated a wider selection of izakaya dishes but were surprised to find only a few. That said, we truly enjoyed the Toro, Hamachi, and Saba sushi. Would we return? It’s uncertain, probably due to the high prices. The quality is definitely there, but it felt a bit on the pricey side.
I hadn’t visited Globefish in a couple of years and was pleasantly surprised. The menu remained largely the same, which is fine since the prices and quality have stayed consistent. There are plenty of delicious rolls, and the sashimi was of good quality. Definitely worth the trip back for me.

Super nice server and delicious food. I came in needing a light meal to sooth my food poisoning (from another restaurant) and they were super accommodating. The chef even came to make sure everything was good. My partner had the dynamite roll and the crispy California roll, both very delicious! Thanks for the great food and service! Would highly recommend.
We used to love dining at Globefish because they offer some delicious specialty rolls and the service has always been great. Unfortunately, we ordered through UberEats tonight, and the fish in our rolls was overwhelmingly fishy. It was inedible, and we had to discard it because we didn’t want to risk getting sick from bad raw fish. This was probably the worst sushi experience we’ve ever had.

I really enjoyed this place, but I couldn't accept the fact that they brought the bill before we had finished our meal and before we even asked for it! It felt like they were saying, "Pay and leave."
After several days of craving Japanese cuisine, I finally gave in and ordered some takeaway.
Living inland, it's hard to find a good/consistent sushi restaurant. Have been here a handful of times, and it's become my go-to place for sushi. The servers are friendly and super helpful. The sashimi is second to none in Calgary. Tried the tuna tacos and the gyoza for the first time last night, and I'd give both two thumbs up. Haven't had an item I didn't enjoy yet.
I've been to numerous sushi restaurants, but I always find myself returning to Globefish. I recently visited again on Valentine's Day.
Sushi is a regular lunch choice for me, and there’s a great little spot just around the corner from my work that I’ve always considered my go-to for Japanese food. But last night, that spot was dethroned. Globefish Marda Loop is now my new benchmark! My sister and I had less than an hour to eat before heading to an event nearby. We let our server know about the time crunch, placed our order, and before we knew it, our seaweed salads and jumbo rolls were served swiftly. Although we didn’t explore the entire menu, what we had was fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. It felt like they had reinvented Japanese cuisine just as I thought I had found my favorite. The salad and rolls were familiar but elevated to a whole new level of refinement—from the delicate red roe sprinkled over the salad to the tangy mango sauce drizzled on the rolls. The restaurant itself was modern and bustling with diners. The service was efficient and professional, and the prices were much more reasonable than I anticipated. We both agreed we’d definitely return, while giving a respectful, if reluctant, nod to the little place around the corner.
