Cluck N Cleaver - Calgary
Cluck N Cleaver
Description
Cluck and Cleaver was once known for its delicious Southern-style chicken, but recent reviews suggest a significant decline in quality. Customers have complained about greasy, tasteless food that is overpriced, burnt, and lacking in flavor. Despite the hype surrounding Chef Nicole Gomes, the rotisserie chicken fell short of expectations. The side dishes were decent but small for the price. Although some customers raved about the experience and flavors, the majority found the food disappointing, overpriced, and lacking in quality. This once-popular spot seems to have lost its charm, with inconsistent food quality and inexperienced staff.

We ordered the Family Pack with 8 pieces of chicken, coleslaw, large family fries, and 8 boneless chicken strips. The boneless strips were exceptionally tasty—well-spiced, juicy, and far superior to what most other places offer. They had a rich flavor and perfect texture that really stood out. The 8-piece chicken was dark meat, making it extra juicy and flavorful. The crispy coating stayed intact and didn’t fall off, adding the perfect crunch to every bite. The coleslaw was delicious and fresh, though I personally would have preferred a touch more vinegar—it’s more of a personal taste preference than a flaw. The cornbread was soft, fresh, and full of flavor, unlike the processed and bland versions from other brands. Overall, this meal was much better than what you get from big chain restaurants. You can actually enjoy the full experience of eating well-made fried chicken—flavorful, satisfying, and freshly prepared. Food: 5 Service: 5
Go to Popeyes Cold undercooked chicken with soft and not crunchy breading. Salads are old and unfresh. No parking you have to pay across the street to pick up. Wanted to love it but absolutely no way I would go back
My husband and I came in for lunch and had the Mother Clucker. What a great sandwich! Super crunchy. It was very saucy and made a big mess. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Service: Dine in
We dined al fresco after placing our order in person. I opted for the spicy chicken sandwich, which was absolutely delicious and lived up to its name in terms of spiciness. The fries were a standout as well, freshly cut and perfectly fried. Unfortunately, my husband's four-piece meal arrived at room temperature, which was a letdown and made it difficult for him to fully enjoy the dish.
We visited the Cluck N Cleaver location in the Beltline. It is a pickup-only location and finding parking can be a bit challenging. We each ordered the Mother Clucker sandwich and decided to eat in our car since it was cold in Calgary in February. When we opened the container, we were a little disappointed by the size of the chicken sandwich considering the price. However, in terms of flavor, it did not disappoint. The perfect balance of heat and sweetness, coupled with the crunchy slaw, made for a delicious meal. We opted for plain mayo instead of their blue cheese mayo, so I can't speak to how that combination tastes, but if you're looking for great flavor, Cluck N Cleaver is the way to go. Since we only tried the sandwich, we can't comment on the taste of their sides, but maybe next time.
